Trade Speculation and Rumors 2018-19

pi he isn't playing with a current brain injury, he just got worse after it, possibly in part because of it, while being completely healthy. You can't LTIR that as much as either of us would like to never see him again

I disagree.   It's the same thing as coming back from an ACL injury.    The ACL can be healed and 100% heatlhy, but you're nowhere near close to playing because you leg is weak.    It's the same with brain related injuries... you may be symptom free, but it doesn't mean you're ready for live combat.     Last season, Okposo clearly was not back to 100%.

One way to end the dismantling is to not trade your #1 center minutes and role-wise.

Just sayin'.

Unless it's the final step.

Just don't think you can "change the culture" while keeping this scenario going. No way is ROR in the long term plan, so it's best to end it all now and then it's JBot's team to make or break.

Maybe you missed the first contingency, which was trading O'Reilly for Colton Parayko. That'd give us two defensemen better than Risto assuming Dahlin lives up to the hype. But by trading O'Reilly we'd have a hole at 2nd line center (Mittlestadt probably isn't ready for that just yet as a rookie). Risto would have a ton of value as a tradeable asset and could bring us back a better scoring forward than just about any other player on our roster. The logic is you have to give up something good to get something good. It's not that Risto is terrible, it's just that he could bring a good return.

That's the idea, innit?

Did I wrongly use "innit" by correctly using "innit?"

Still feeling like St Louis is the front-runner, Montreal in it, and then, maybe we hear about another team kicking tires.

Per Jeremy White

Montreal would have to trade us every good asset they have save Carey Price to make this deal. It would be essentially a tank move because they'd have ROR and no one.

At least we'd know that the next time he drives his truck into a Tim Horton's it'll have been intentional. ;)

Montreal's top 3 scorers last season were

1) Gallagher, RW, with 31g and 23a (age 26) 3 years at 3.75

2) Galchenyuk (traded) 19g 32a

3) Drouin, LW, 13g 33a  (age 23) - Contract 5 years at 5.5

If we have to trade ROR for locker room and other issues what about Drouin coming back?

With Drouin & Sheary, we'd go from lousy to deep on LW

Drouin

Sheary

ERod

Wilson

RW

Reinhart

????

Okposo

Pominville

Center

Eichel

Bozak/Stastny

Mittelstadt

Girgensons/Larsson/O'Regan

If they send the Sabres Drouin, they're hurting their (and their perception's alone) C depth. The Sabres should toss in Nylander as well to let them net 1 C (;)) and they can add in Gallagher.

So, a non-lottery protected 2019 #1, Drouin, & Gallagher for O'Reilly & Nylander. Should sound fair to Bergeron, right?

LOL.  We'll throw in Girgensons as well.

Can even play nice w/ Bergevin and only ask for his 2020 2nd rounder for that piece. ;)

Glachenyuk is not a Montreal Canadian. So they have Gallagher and Drouin. Why trade drouin after literally just getting him 1 year ago.

Why?

Because Bergevin

This. ^

Some trade activity picking up recently out of Ottawa, it appears. Chatter on Karlsson/Ryan package deal getting a bit stronger. Should be an interesting 24-48 hours ahead. Should note, Ryan has a $2M bonus due July 1. We’ll see.

Dorion devalues his biggest trade asset...

I don't think it's Dorion doing the devaluing.
