  1. If the Sabres haven't found a way to fall bassackwards into a playoff spot by the end of this contract then he would probably be looking to John Eichel his way out no matter what contract he signed and no one will be watching the team anymore anyway.
  2. Yup. Easy to side-step. Just say you're doing rotating C's or something.
  3. I expected him to be showing us a little more at this point, but who knows which way is up or down with this team. Is anyone good? Is everyone bad? No idea.
  4. That's fine. I just think the bridge deal is the better play here. I don't have Sam Reinhart Trauma.
  5. I'm not too worried about savings. Good teams find ways to make the money work.
  6. I think it's the right move from the standpoint of trying to get as much time from "prime Dahlin" as possible. He's 21 right now. He'll be 24 when this bridge is up and they have to get a new deal done. At that point, if he's turned into the player we want him to, no one will have a problem with the Sabres signing him to a big money 8 year deal. That will carry him to 32 and then the Sabres can walk away from him knowing they got him in his prime. I prefer this to signing him to 8 or 9 years now and then having him turn out to be good and trying to decide whether or not they need to lock him in for another 6-8 like Karlsson when he's 29-30 years old. No thanks. I don't want anything to do with that.
  7. Again, the thing to keep in mind here is when the stadium was built. If you look at other stadiums around the league that were built during the same era, nearly all have been demolished. Foxboro, Giants Stadium, Pontiac Silverdome, San Diego Stadium, Tampa Stadium, I could go on... It's a building code issue. The way we started building stuff, both commercially and residentially, changed in this country in the late 60s. Lower standards, lots of new materials, lightweight materials, etc. Stadiums built in the late 60s and 70s were not built to last.
  8. I mean, I think anyone who has been to the stadium recently could tell you it needs to be replaced. It's almost 50 years old and it was built during an era where building code standards were trying to lighten things up a bit. It's not a brick shithouse like Lambeau.
  9. Is there any reason that post hasn't been removed? It's extremely offensive.
  10. Cool. Now get the Dahlin deal done. I can smell training camp in the air.
  11. Good post Thorny. @dudacek I like you man, but ever since the press conference a while back you really seem to have developed an axe to grind over a bunch of supposed personality defects derived from very little actual information. Your version of John is very different from mine, even though we're both working off of the same raw materials.
  12. I thought Casey finally looked like he was using all the tools in the toolbox at the end of last season. This should end up being a good signing.
  13. The 30 for 30 about John playing half the season here after being stripped of the C is gonna be a trip.
  14. What they really ought to do is just build a new arena. Everyone wants so badly for the football stadium to be some kind of downtown year round destination (it wouldn't be even if they put it there, but that's beside the point), so why not make a new arena the thing that accomplishes that goal? Build a new arena across the street where the HSBC lot is and then re-develop the land where the arena currently sits into something that is more attractive. Hell, the current arena site is where the new convention center should really go...
  15. Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize fun was banned here
  16. I feel like I must be the only person who has zero problem with everything that is being proposed so far.
