4 feet of water in the tunnels.

That's cool. I'm not surprised though, parts of Newark are right at sea-level so the subways are below. The Path train in Jersey City has to be 100 ft below the Hudson.

Slowly seeing the warnings go from one to two.. and now four for WNY.

Yeah, it seems like the storm has mostly broken up without dumping a ton of rain here in SE PA, so it'll probably be dumping a lot of that water further North and West.

Checking in from Hamburg. Not as windy yet as I had feared, though it will probably pick up a bit soon. No hiccups in the power so far, lights haven't even flickered yet. Sump pump is kicking on every 30 seconds right now, and I have a finished basement...but it's a brand new pump so I'm not too worried. If the power goes out I have an extension cord all ready to hook into my neighbor's genny.

I have a large pine tree on the northeast corner of my house which is my biggest concern right now. Sure hope it doesn't end up on my house.

Quite a lull in the precip right now, just misting at the moment. Just took the dog for a nice walk actually. Kinda fun to walk around the neighborhood on a night like this. Probably won't sleep tonight...too stressful...so I'm just planning to get lots of homework done for school, and hoping my classes are cancelled tomorrow.

Stay safe everyone.

Right on the edge of the wind and rain right now in the Scranton area...not so bad yet, 30 mph winds are about as bad as its been. I guess Wilkes Barre lost power, and with how things get done here in the good old commonwealth, it will probably be out until someone re-invents electricity. I hope to god we don't lose power. I cant live without lights, and i have a walking, talking fire hazard (8 year old) living with me, so that automatically rules out candles.

Good luck to everyone whose in worse shape. Hope all is well.

So far not too bad here. Wind starting to pick up a bit and the lights are dimming every now and then but still have power. Pretty much just worried about the tree in front of my house since one of the three main limbs hangs over my house (and all the leaves fell off last week :worthy: ). Never had a chance to clean the gutters before the bad weather started so I've got buckets coming out every time there is a good gust leaving a nice pool of standing water in front of my house. Luckily the house is on a bit of a hill and the standing water is right near the drain for where the sump pump is. Kind of expecting the power to go out sometime in the middle of the night since I've heard a bunch of people around Rochester are already powerless.

Waiting for daylight to see what happened. We got an incredible amount of rain and wind yesterday. Still raining here until mid day. Winds still blowing in the 20s. We now have high tide and south winds pushing water up the bay.

First reaction seems to be that MD came through this pretty well. 200,000 out of power mostly in my county.

We of course also have to survive all the water coming down the Susquehanna River. Flooding is everywhere, but that as expected.

Daylight will tell a lot. We're still under a state of emergency until 12 today.

Chance of snow too....

We came out of it fine. Sump pump is sounding off every few minutes. Sometime overnight the power went out but I don't know for how long. One block over the street is closed, there is a powerline down across the road. Work is open so I'm there. It was dark driving in so I can't say how much mess there was. There wasn't much very much at all that was obvious in my headlights.

I bought a generator in March. It's nice knowing that even if there was alot of destruction we were still going to be comfortable. I fired it up last night after work just to make sure it was operating OK, but it looks like the maiden voyage will have to wait a bit longer.

There was one weather channel idiot(he may have been from a network affiliate) who was right on the waters edge last night trying to broadcast with waves crashing over his head. I was hoping the dumba$$ would get swept out to sea.

At least the always enjoyable Jim Cantore has the sense to say, "listen folks, if this water gets any higher, we may have to head out"(he was at battery park).

On a related weather channel note, does Stephanie Abrams have a brain?

I dunno. I never move my gaze up high enough to see her brain.

From what I've seen so far this morning, my part of WNY has dodged a really big bullet. The winds were lower than expected and the rain wasn't too bad (except for a heavy downpour about 7:10 this AM). Right now, I'm actually seeing some sunshine in downtown Buffalo. Power outages were minimal in the area and aside from a ton of leaves and twigs (and the occasional smallish tree branch) lying around, we've made out pretty well. We've had much scarier windstorms many times in the past. Thanks to the big guy upstairs for watching out for us on this one.

However, the reports from NYC, Jersey and Maryland aren't so good. Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone down that way.

Out near Fairport, we seem to have weathered the 1st pass of the storm well as well. No wind AT ALL at 8AM. It doesn't look like anybody lost power near where I'm at and the only damage I've seen is a neighbor's old willow tree lost a large branch. (Which in and of itself isn't indicative of any severe weather.)

Good luck to all. Hopefully those of you that haven't been knocked out by the storm maintain that status; and for those that have been knocked out, hopefully the recovery crews are quick.

My parents lost a big pine tree last night, took out their service line from the poll in the back around 10pm. Good old Fairport Electric (SOCIALISM!) had the line reconnected in an hour, during the storm! Practically free electricity and great service? I'm jealous.
