The position seemed like a natural fit and I thought I was seeing quite a bit of interest from the interviewer. After we were done talking, he let met know that he was going out of the country on vacation for a month and I wouldn't hear from him until after he was back. Now that we're at the 7 week mark, I'm not quite sure what to think. I feel like the window of readjusting after an extended vacation has probably closed at this point. I think at this point it would be a good idea and perfectly acceptable for you to contact that person to follow up. Be sure to state your interest in the position and the organization. Also, make sure to state that you are just wondering if he has had a chance to think about it since his vacation and that there is no rush. My neighbor across the street decided to go into his former place of employment with a shotgun and gunned down 4 innocent people 2 of which died as a result. Now the street I live on is basically overrun with media looking for a sound bite. I've avoided the cameras because what can I say really ? He seemed like a nice guy. Well he did. When we moved into the area his wife came over and welcomed us. Always pleasant. But under some stress due to his layoff obviously. No excuse. He should have reached out but stress does strange things to people. My brother in law lost a good friend in this tragedy and my neighbor was the perp. Its a strange life we find ourselves in at times. I've never seen such foot traffic on this street. Looky loos and rubber neckers trying to see the house this guy lived in. That's the time to listen to every fear you can imagine! When you have collected all the facts and fears and made your decision, turn off all your fears and go ahead! Short Short version: degenerate gamblers keep food in my family's stomach and rain off our heads; however I detest those that scam from the government, and taxpayers taking funds that might otherwise be allocated to those more worthy of help. There is an adage "you buy the builder, not the home." I've learned the hard way how true that is. If you're ever in the market for a new build home, pick a big, reputable builder with a national reputation. Had a great two interviews at a large manufacturing company and they made it seem like I was a sure thing to get this position. Told me to wait a few weeks since the whole accounting/finance department was going on a few site visits and month end close stuff. Wait a few weeks and call back to check on whats up and no word. Turns out they decided that they didn't need that position and are creating an upper level position instead.
