Around the NHL 2017

Did he play the rest of the game?

Good news for us at least

No. The moment the trade is agreed upon he has to leave the ice. He walked out of the arena, bags packed while the game was still going on.  What makes this even more interesting is that he supposedly needed to be traded right then so he would be able to join the Senators who are on their way to Sweden to play two games in the coming days.

Their opponent?

The Colorado Avalanche.

I'm thinking Duchesne might be motivated.  Not only will he be with Sweden's current hero Erik Karlsson but if he can sink the Avs he'll be sticking it to his former team who jerked him around AND to Peter Forsberg.

Don't know enough about the prospects but Colorado is getting panned for this trade everywhere

I know both Girard and Kamanev. Kamanev is the better prospect of the two IMHO. He'll be an NHL winger soon. Girard is skilled, but is a dime-a-dozen defensemen in the Preds defense-heavy system. He'd be hard pressed to get minutes in Nashville (and many other places).

I don't know much about the guys Ottawa gave the Avs.

BTW - A couple of years ago Center was a major weakness for the Preds. Now they have Johanssen, Turris, Bonino, Jarnkrok, Gaudreau, .... many solid forwards who can play the pivot in Nashville.

and the winner is...nashville by a mile. Duschene will have problems duplicating Turris' numbers with Ottawa while Colordao now has a bunch of whatevers to show for O'Reilly and Duschene while nashville adds a dynamic and very good center in Turris. I thought Nashville would win the Cup last year and now think this has to be their year!

What is the CHL and, dear God, did Dan Paille just die playing there?

Game was with Brynas, I believe that is SEL, Swedish Elite League.

Adler Mannheim is a German team.

I saw the CHL logo on the broadcast, it is a European club tournament. Champions Hockey League.

Hoo boy, that’s 98% of Bertuzzi on Moore.

Thanks - that makes sense.

Here's the series of clips in order:

First situation at the end of the game, they were already on the powerplay: https://streamable.com/wng4z

Paille killed: https://streamable.com/hrxrc

Closeup of the elbow on the other guy after the Paille hit: https://streamable.com/ti23l

in gross. The only explanation is coach-directed intent to injure.  If there's a unified governing body, Larkin and his coach, Sean Simpson, should be suspended for months.
