lol nice. And for whatever reason, taking a mental tour of fun-sounding science words reminded me of this:

Marshmallow always sounds hilarious.

i have only a few hang-ups when it comes to comedy, so i need to ask: is the idea with that character that he's mentally retarded?

Polyacrylamide or agarose gel electrophoresis?

Xiphoid process is nice, but what about coccyx?

Yes, everyone loves a good coccyx. Um. Words with unexpected letters are cool. Or o's and i's together. Like, sternocleidomastoid. Also one of the easiest parts to draw on someone that makes it look like you know what you're doing.

No. He's not bright, but he's not supposed to be mentally retarded, either.

I never really thought about it; I just find the cartoon characters amusing:

thanks, both.

i'm admittedly a bit sensitive about such matters; homestar's apparent mental capacity and speech impediment sound a bit (well, to me, a lot) like the sort of voice that middle school boys use to ape the behavior of someone who's MR. but, like i said -- i'm a bit sensitive to such matters.

Homestar just isn't very smart, but he tends to win at stuff. Strongbad is the main attraction http://www.homestarr.../sbemail45.html

holy cow - good stuff.

maybe it was just the homerunner sound board in isolation that made me wince a bit.

oh dear god.

Foot cream kills HIV by tricking cells to commit suicide

That headline looks like a joke, but it's a lay summary of this scientific article:

Drug-induced reactivation of apoptosis abrogates HIV-1 infection

Pretty awesome if they can translate this to human subjects.

Fungicidal maniacs!

Got a good deal on a new (to me) car this weekend. Drove 45 minutes away to visit a dealer and the sales manager just happened to be the dad of one of my son's former classmates in daycare, plus my wife taught all 3 of his kids. It was nice driving to work this morning without having to cross my fingers that my car was going to fall apart.
