If there were a board emoji for a face palm, this would we one place where I would use it.  He is not Bobby Orr putting up +128 in 1970-1.

Frank Seravalli Twitter Update:  Hearing Kirill Kaprizov has a tentative agreement in place with CSKA Moscow on a one-year, 8-figure deal ($USD) to begin on Sept. 1 - should a new contract not materialize with #mnwild. However, the Wild appear ready and willing to talk a medium-term length deal.

Initial hang-up was MIN was only interested in a 7 or 8-year deal for the Calder Trophy winner. That’s not the case. Bunch of options in term. But the Kaprizov camp contends there has been no offer made since April. We’ll see where this goes, two sides remain in communication.

Sounds like bologna.  Players in the KHL don’t make 8 figures, do they?

I don’t know how accurate this article is but this was eye-opening… if true …

The issue is that contracts are not enforceable in Russia like they are in the west. So if you sign a big contract, and the owner falls on financial hardship, there is little legal recourse for the player to get his money.

The funny thing in the one article is that it said Vladimir Sobotka was St. Louis Blues property.

Funny.  The article you linked says Kaprizov has a KHL contract agreed to at over $1M, which makes sense.  Seravalli’s tweet then says 8 figures, which is at least $10M.  Maybe Seravalli can’t count real goodly?

KHL salary cap for 2020-21 season was $14.4M.

It could be an 8 figure total, like 4mil x 3 years or something along those lines.
