Geertsen and Dunne will have roles this season for the Sabres. Whether that means they are on the opening day roster or not I’m not sure. But Lindy has plans for both of them this season

The D pairings are up in the air as Power has an undisclosed injury, Byram is recovering, and Samuelsson may be week to week. 🤷‍♂️

Ryan Johnson might stick around, particularly given the injuries on D.  The fact that Zac Jones was waived and sent to Rochester seems to support the notion of Johnson getting some kind of shot, as Jones was expected to stay with the Sabres and possibly take the 7th spot from Bryson.  That Bryson contract, although not very old, is not aging well.  I think that most would prefer Johnson OR Jones over Bryson.  And don't get me started about Bernard-Docker.  And I don't dislike Bryson as much as many on this board, I just think that Johnson, Jones, and Bernard-Docker are better players.

Jones over Bryson.  Heck, there's people that would prefer Metsa over Bryson.  😉

Yes, I think they will keep Mrtka because of the injuries. He gets a trial run and then they will decide where he goes.

If Byram and Power are out for a short period why not give Mrtka a couple games, he earned it

I don’t think there’s any surprises to be had. Since the offseason acquisitions, the only disagreements were on line combinations and pairings. Nothing really as far as the overall roster.

Well they don't have a lot of depth so they have a bunch of games before they have to commit to a decision.

1 thing to remember is, if they send him back to Ra-cha-cha rather than Juniors before his 9 games is up, he can still get brought up again and also if he cumulatively doesn't get a 10th game this year won't burn a year of his ELC.  This is unlike loaning him back to Seattle which if they do that, he could only be brought back on an emergency basis or after their season is done.

So, if he's Ra-cha-cha bound, he might be the 1st guy sent down when somebody gets healthy enough to play after the season starts to save some of those 9 games for later in the year.

If he's Seattle bound, expect him to get all 9 games before going back.

I don’t know how long Samuelsson will be out. This could turn out be a good opportunity for Ryan Johnson to show that he belongs with the big club. 
 

I don’t know how Mrtka is going to be handled. One can make a good case for a variety of options. This will be an interesting situation to follow.

Scary.  He needs to go back down and get his trial run next year.  I’ve seen this before.

I caught a partial segment last night on WGR with PH saying that, despite Ruff not liking it, and despite Adam's acknowledging it doesn't work, they're going to be running back the 3 goalie rotation. 

Absolutely mind boggling. You picked Georgiov up off the street 2 weeks ago, you can waive him.

Idk why they picked up Georgiev. They had enough goalies even with UPL injured. You just run Lyon and Levi and let whoever hold down Rochester. Now they're backed into the standard Kevyn Adams 3 goalie corner like short sighted bumpkins

UPL initially had no timetable on his injury. But if it wasn't substantial (because about 2 days later it was only day-to-day), why offer Georgiev a 1-year deal? Just give him a PTO for camp. If he doesn't take it, big deal. You had 5 goalies on the ice, even with Ratzlaff out with illness and Lukkonen on the mend for the couple weeks of camp. Give Houser a call.
