He's giving the youngsters who will be on the AHL and junior rosters a taste of NHL play, and give them a sense for what they need to do to take the next step up. He's also being cautious in avoiding injuries to his main roster players. I mean, it’s literally the organization’s 7-14 on D, and probably the 13-20th-ranked forwards, minus Savoie. And a guy desperately trying to hang on to his spot in the NHL starts in goal. Should be a hungry bunch. Even the veterans - 8 NHL players the minimum for an exhibition? - are arguably the team’s least established, maybe minus Olofsson?
