Here's a Ranger's season preview:

https://sny.tv/articles/rangers-2025-26-nhl-season-preview-prediction

The Rangers are a bit of a question mark heading into the 2025-26 NHL season.

After missing the playoffs for the first time in three years, GM Chris Drury continued shaking things up around the organization this summer.

Head coach Peter Laviolette was fired after his second year behind the Blueshirts’ bench, and he was replaced by two-time Stanley Cup champion Mike Sullivan, a long-rumored target of Drury.

Sullivan brought a whole new staff with him, including former Rangers head man David Quinn.

On top of that, he named J.T. Miller the 29th captain in franchise history.

New York also continued shaking things up on the ice, shipping off their longest-tenured member Chris Kreider in a deal with the Anaheim Ducks and young defenseman K’Andre Miller to the division rival Carolina Hurricanes.

With not much cap space to work with, they weren’t too active in free agency this summer. But they were able to make a big-time addition, bringing in the top defenseman available -- Vladislav Gavrikov -- on a seven-year pact.

Gavrikov is expected to slide in alongside Adam Fox on the top pairing, and the hope is that he’ll help improve their play in front of All-Star netminder Igor Shesterkin, who saw his numbers dip last season behind New York's leaky defense.

Are these moves enough to get the Blueshirts back to the playoffs?

I’m six hours ahead in Italy, so I promise not to post any scores and spoil it for you all.

That’s how this time zone stuff works, right? 😝

Yes been really hard keeping my mouth shut all these years.

Jacob Bryson starting on the 2nd pair is an indictment of how bad Adams is. It's also an indictment of this coaching staff when Ryan Johnson is right there.

I am going to do everyone a favor and stay out of the game day thread unless this team turns out to be the opposite of what I think.

Go Sabes!

Me too.  Maybe after the game, but that’s about it.

I’ll be on my way down to Atlanta during the game (go bills) but cheering on the Sabres in spirit. Can’t wait to watch the highlights of a Sabres 7-2 win to start the season!

So Drury fired a coach who missed the playoffs - setting a standard.

Hired a coach who won two Cups and let that coach replace the entire staff

Cleared cap room and brought in a first pair defenseman.

I didn’t know you could do that?

I’d be happy to just bring in an actual starting goaltender. It’s pretty crazy that every other team in the NHL has two of them. 🤣

Lyon starting the season as the opening goalie is a marvelous opportunity for him. If he plays well for a team that desperately needs to have a good start, it wouldn't be a surprise (at least for me) that he becomes the #1 goalie. UPL has been plagued with injuries and inconsistencies. The opportunities have been there for him to seize. He just has not been able to be dependable for a variety of reasons. Just maybe, being seriously being pushed by UPL might be the best thing for him.

The Sabres are far from being a well-rounded team. But if he can get consistent solid goalie, we should be able to be in the playoff mix for the whole season.

I'm predicting a Sabre win tonight. Why? Hometown bias.

Hope springs eternal and Lyon did have that one magical run while Bobrovsky was out, but he's had opportunities to seize the starters job in the past and has never been able to take the reins.

Expect a more realistic hope is that he can be "the guy" for the month of October and then either UPL finally gets out of his own head or one of the little AHLers get an opportunity and seize the day.

Either way, go Sabres.

Well, if you want to get technical, Sabre goalies combined for 153 NHL starts last year. 😜

Don't imagine many teams have more.

I have no idea how this team will come out tonight.

Lyon should be an improvement on last year’s UPL.

Another year for Ruff to get through to them but this coaching staff does not impress me.

Cornerstones like Tage, Dahlin, and Tuch need to demand more and set a higher standard.

The defense without Kesselring looks like last year.

They need a fast start.

I ***** hate the Rangers and all the national ballwashing of Mike Sullivan, Adam Fox and their decrepit forward corps.

Id like to see the Sabres start off by giving them a good curb-stomping that launches New York on an inexorable march to a bottom 5 finish that ends with Drury looking for a new job.

Let's go Buffalo.
