I’m thinking the timing seems interesting considering, end of the night. Buffalo is drafting first up tomorrow. Perhaps that pick is going to Florida along with Reinhart. So this could be a multiple piece trade. Pick 33 and Reinhart for pieces back.

That's currently the most valuable pick in this years draft, hard to see trading that along with a top forward like Sam.

But why else the sudden urgency by both teams to get something done right NOW? Before 33 comes off the board. Just a suggestion that it could indeed be involved.

Sam is a great player who is only going to get better, but he did NOT want to be here anymore.  Hopefully the return from FL is huge.

Answering the why players with leverage not wanting to be in Buffalo is critical.  Because,  If you ship out players and accede to their demands, eventually you'll be left with little but prospects and journeymen.

Columbus had the same scenario happen today and they keep having to unload elite players.  Little wonder some teams are entrenched in the basement of NHL standings.

Anyone still hopeful that analytics is playing a part in today's action?

It certainly feels that way.  Of course I have no clue but it feels like the presence of Karmanos is bringing out the confidence in KA.

It's always good to have an experienced guy helping to confirm good decisions.

Friedmann said the Sabres and Panthers have been working on the deal all day.  Could be Lundell and Fla’s 1st next season.
