Keep losing and blow it up Was thinking the same thing, they were dominated... that being said D played really well blocked a ton of shots and so did Lehner, except the softie at the end... He deserved the win. But the Sabres are rushing on the their sticks turning the puck over too much especially the forwards and except for Jack can't really pass... consistently. At this point I would tell him to just go in and take a slap shot or wrister from the slot. Eichel has bad stick handling skills, a very straight forward, upright skating style, and his strength isn't lateral quickness but north-south speed. I want them to learn how to close out games. Yes, It was the Blackhawks, but puck luck and they did just enough to win this one. Honestly, how many games have we seen like this? 6? I wonder if Buffalo Sabres/Bills internet boards were this bad in the 90's, back when our teams actually did win with some regularity. Personally, I'd much rather go on a few win streaks and have our players begin meeting expectations rather than increase our lottery chances by about 5-10%. Beer Posted December 9, 2017 Report Share Posted December 9, 2017 I started watching in the 2nd period. Overall I thought the Sabres were playing much better as a team. We all know it would have been a loss if it went to a shootout so I wasn’t too disappointed in the outcome. We got a point (and Lenny didn’t have to embarrass himself in the shootout). I was really impressed with Wilson’s speed. I think he will be worth the 5th rounder. It was also nice to see him get his first point. Jack was playing with some determination. He needs to work on his penalty shot (along with the entire team). E-rod is a nice addition now that he is back in the line-up. I actually liked how the lines looked last night and I can say I haven’t felt that way all year. Unfortunately, i think the hole they’ve dug is too deep but it would at least be nice to watch competitive hockey for the rest of the season. Go Sabres! It's not an excuse. It's a fact. One you obviously are unaware of. That's why NHL players try to deflect shots. It's amazing that after all the turnovers in our end, defensive lapses, giving up a 3P shorty and our star player pulling his pud on a game-winning penalty shot, you decide to hang the loss on our goalie who stood on his head, covering up for his Keystone cops teammates, all game. I thought the Sabres played well for the most part ... 2 times there were multiple brain farts and they resulted in the SH to tie and the OT winner. They did earn that point, but OTOH really did not deserve it seeing how they gave it up. Overall I think they are starting to put it together. I tend to agree with your observation on a big chunk of the fan base. I believe it's because we're all looking for alternate ways to enjoy a crummy product. Wow. Just wow. There was a replay where they were trying desperately on the broadcast to see a tip and let Lehner off the hook, but they didn't see it. I didn't either. I still say Lehner was fooled by the shooter. He was expecting a shot from his left and would have seen it despite 55's placement. Instead the shooter stopped, pulled the puck back and sent a shot to Lehner's right. Lehner should have been able to see it had he read the play. It's funny that preceding the game Dom Hasek was being interviewed on some MSG show and he was emphasizing that seeing the puck was the most important thing to him. "I must see!" Eichel needs to be $ in OT penalty shot. His e-leet talent drew the penalty but finish or you are Brian Holzinger. 8 goals in 29 games zzzzzzz. And Risto needs to figure it out. Jack talked about all the advice he was getting at the bench before the penalty shot. Is that a good thing? I think I'd prefer the shooter to be by himself with his thoughts. Pommers is saying go high glove, Kane is saying five-hole, Larry Larsson is saying try the puck in your pants trick. Paralysis by analysis? Jack just played in the game and should have an idea of how to beat this goalie. In addition to the scouting they would have done before the game.
