Best "finisher" in Sabres history?

I don't want to list nominees.  But let's go.  Is it Satan?  Mogilny?  Briere from that odd spot on the goal line?  Drury because of 07?  Andreychuk or Vanek in front of the net?  John Tucker (had to throw a joke in)?  Our late friend Rick Martin?

Have at it.  This should be some off-season fun.

Maybe if we cull it down to four or five, I'll make a real poll.

Danny Gare had a great wrist shot, and he was a 50 goal scorer twice. He also had a 46 goal year. 35 game winning goals in his Buffalo career. He was my favorite player growing up.

And would stand toe-to-toe with Clark Gilles and pound away giving up about 5 inches in height.  As fearless of a competitor as the Sabres have ever had.

One more thing in Gare's favor: he frequently played on the 2nd line. He didn't have Gil feeding him. IIRC, he played on the checking line with Luce and Ramsey as line mates.

You're right.  And Luce was JAG before he got with Ramsay and Gare.  Those two made Luce look great offensively (defensively and on the PK, Luce was the MAN).

It's gotta be Rico.

His worst season was 28 goals in 65 games.

Scored at least 30 his other eight years.

He AVERAGED 46 goals over 80 games in his first NINE years.

He finished 6th, 16th, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 10th (in 66 games), 37th (in 65 games), 26th, and 12th in goals scored over that stint.

Nobody can touched that sustained sniping.

Hard to vote against Mogilny...he scored 77 goals for us and could have had another 20 if he figured out a better move on breakaways than to always try and go five hole...

That line was the checking line.

For me, it would go Gare, Andreyslug, & Rico.

Though Dave Hannon finished off that 70 shot shutout game, so that should get consideration. ;)

Rick Martin

Gare, Satan

...

Perhaps Briere, Dumont, Andreychuk. I'd be curious on the thoughts of others regarding Dumont. Being old gives you memories. Being too old obscures them.

Interesting thoughts on Mogilny - among the greatest Sabres of all time, but not a sniper. If he were a sniper, he'd have scored 126 goals in his best season. His feet created goals. No criticism.
