MattPie
It's alot more than some rapper guy. Google up Flat Earth Society. They've been around a long time. For some reason it seems to be gaining traction on social media lately. Well, right. I just meant the particular guy that started the current dust-up. qwksndmonster
My girlfriend left for her second semester yesterday. She's studying abroad in Brno, the second biggest city in Czech Republic until July. This is gonna suck.
biodork
Finally heard back on the interview, and it's 2pm tomorrow (!!). Super exciting, but also stressful because I need to prepare tonight (and pack for heading to the airport tomorrow evening) and be able to leave work for a little bit (hopefully unnoticed) tomorrow afternoon. Ogre
Coming home to a tearful wife is an awful thing. Our cat Doodles passed from old age in Nov. and his brother Poopie has gone steadily downhill. He's lost at least 25% of his body weight. He has lost interest in food and cuddles and lap time. I taught a class after work so I got home later. He had peed on the floor right in front of her a few feet from the spot he was lying. He would never do that. Ever. His breathing is deep and labored....I grew up on a farm. Death was around daily. My wife has a very hard time with these things and that breaks my heart. Eleven
My girlfriend left for her second semester yesterday. She's studying abroad in Brno, the second biggest city in Czech Republic until July. This is gonna suck. 1. You will miss her, but we live in a world of Skype and FaceTime and all that. 2. Do they award vowels based upon city size in the CR? Like, Prague (Praha) gets two pronounceable vowels but Brno only gets one? Can you ask her about that? Brawndo
We have a specialist at one of the hospitals we are affiliated with who is has a history of being inappropriate with female staff. There have been numerous complaints lodged against him, but the various administrations, or should I say old boy network, in the hospital have dismissed it as boys being boys. He is in his sixties and on his fifth marriage(shocking I know) and he pulled the same crap on one of our new 24 year old Physician Assistants. He came up behind her, wrapped his arms around her and kissed her in front of a large group of her colleagues. He then said "There is more where that came from if you want it" as he ran his hand down her back. Needless to say this freaked her out. I did not see the incident, but I did tell her that is completely inappropriate and I will assist her if she wants to report it. She mentioned she is not at that site too much and nothing would come from it if she does anyways. It pisses me off that in this day and age females are subjected to this . This is the that makes me lose it. We had a female apprentice that had some dirtbag say all sorts of nasty things to her. She only reported it when he grabbed her arm hard enough to bruise her. We are 100% ZERO tolerance. That dirtbag was brought up on charges(LU stuff) and paid thousands in fines. Should it happen once more, triple the fine. We are legally bound to keep giving you chances but we can out price your stupidity.

Doohicksie
Decided to go for a ride on the bicycle tonight, with a new group. I went to the bike shop and.... no one was around. I guess they didn't have the ride; I thought it was supposed to be every Thursday. So I remembered there was another group doing their very first ride tonight. So I ride over to the park where they're meeting up. No one is there. Finally, a couple minutes after the start time, three people show up. They say, "This is a social ride, so we're gonna hang out a half hour or forty-five minutes before we start." wut? <_< So I make my own ride. But it's windy as tonight and I ended up riding into a 25 mph headwind (gusting to 40) for about 15 miles. Ugh.
LGR4GM
So everyone complains about being underpaid but we were told by the big boss that we are roughly 5-7k below the average pay for our jobs. They tried to play it off saying things like "we don't have the admin structure so that helps keep our mean pay numbers low" and "we are making this a top priority going forward" but at the end of the day I could move to just about anywhere else and give myself almost a 10k$ raise to do the same job. I have no plans to move anytime soon because reasons but if they don't become competitive in another 2-3 years I will have more than enough experience to go wherever I want. It's frustrating too because they also said my specific section should keep raising our stats to help make the case for more cash. Well I doubled my stats last year and I am probably going to be about 25% higher than that number this year. I can't really do much more. Super frustrating and I like my job so idk. just uhg, this economy is .

My complaint: gout. Don't know if anyone else on the board has gout but it's unbearably painful. Lasts about 5 days and you usually get the pain and swelling in your feet. Seriously feels like razor blades cutting you every step you take. Even shittier is we have tickets to the Sabres game against the Wild on Saturday. We're staying tomorrow and Saturday in Buffalo and God knows I'm going to be drinking more beer and eating more wings than I should. Hopefully the pain subsides sooner than later. North Buffalo
Or like when they told me that Len Bias tried ONE sniff of coke, ONE time and he OD'd. OD'd! Not led to a heart attach from his heart arrhythmia(and coke problem). OD'd. Christ, DARE is stupid. Yeh remember that BS. My complaint is Sabres suck, Bills suck, another year of Buffalo sports suckitude:( Edited March 3, 2016 by North Buffalo

Weave
All employee meeting yesterday. Exec's from the home office were here to discuss state of the company issues. Someone asked if the hourly staff are going to be sacrificed to the budget knife every quarter this year (all hourly have a 5 day layoff int he 1st quarter, we also had one last year in the 4th). Boss responded that, "we will do what is necessary to ensure that our quarterly reports meet their targets. And there may be some collateral damage." Record earnings last year. Salary got bonuses, hourly is collateral damage. Hey, at least we know where we stand........ Job creators.......
