I have a stomach thing going on, but I'm not letting that get me down. I'm working in pyjamas, the bike is running well, and I'm doing a pub-trip down into Philly to watch the game tomorrow. Sunday is an all-day ride.

Going all Hugh Hefner, eh?

Too bad about the stomach thing, though. Enjoy the trip to Philly and your bike.

Just got off phone with HR and person I interviewed with this week for department manager. I got the job. Moving from supervisor to manager. Twenty percent pay hike with possibility of 30%. Needless to say I'm pumped. Oh yeah, leaving for Florida tomorrow for two weeks as well. F'n fantastic Friday.

It has been all doom and gloom for good reason this week so let us celebrate the good.

I very lovely young lady will be making me dinner tonight. She bet on Red and I bet on White at the G-Day scrimmage and I won. Looking forward to some good food and her company.

1. ink, just noticed this; congrats.

2. i'll bet he doesn't know and doesn't care

Congrats to INK!

lol you are half right, I don't care what she is making ;) but I do know. She is making her homemade spaghetti sauce and cooking up some wheat pasta for it. I am providing Heron Hill Eclipse as the wine of the evening (its a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc)

And, unless it's been agreed to already, no checking on the game. There's plently of time for that after she leaves in the morning. ;)

Do you have this situation locked up, or should we convene an executive committee to develop your strategy for the evening?

I do not believe I will be that lucky

The beauty of modern technology, hiding the porn is only a mouse click or two away. But back in my day...

DELTE HISTORY DELETE HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I have it locked up but an executive committee could help.

Proposal 1: No blend. Stop at the liquor store or wherever one buys wine down there and get a decent (we're talking $15, not $60) bottle made from one grape. How does the committee vote?

Would agree to stay away from blends. Would also recommend staying towards the sweeter end if he doesn't already know her taste in wines.

Hmm, good idea, I'll grab a nice Malbec on the way home

Always be prepared. Have the baby wipes and astroglide on hand just in case

Lol, it made me think of this...

If you're ugly or she's ugly, buy two bottles. SImilar, but not the same, wine.

Also, pick up a nice dessert that you think she'd like. Maybe stawberries (sliced or wedged), whipped cream, and dark chocolate (grated) on pound cake; make it for her after dinner.

Set the table with cheap seasonal flowers from the grocery store (optional), and for god's sake, buy a nice smelling candle to burn that smell out of your room (not optional).

Well, I actually think you can't go wrong with a Bordeaux. There are quite a few issues with the French, but they are really good with the wine.

Good stuff here.

I would add:

- Don't eat too fast or too much and don't get sauced.

- Try to have her do more of the talking -- ask her about her hometown, family, college, work, etc.

- Don't talk much about prior busted relationship. If it comes up -- it was a bummer, I wish her well, we don't keep in touch anymore, that's life, time to move on. Next topic.

- Have a movie available to watch after dinner that women will like. It might have to be one of those GD romantic comedies. If she's the type who likes Apatow, I would suggest "Knocked Up."

You will do great.
