SwampD
Just lost our first tree branch (about 5" dia). Really glad I told work to go screw.

themaze2332
Sandy is on here in MD. Looks like she has passed the mouth of the Chesapeake before turning left. Still hours away from really feeling it and already have rain falling an inch per hour. Lights are still on and the sump pump is working. Wish I had a generator. Been raining since 6 AM where I am in MD, getting heavier as time moves on....and the wind is picking up. My sump pump is literally going off every two minutes. The big stuff is only a few hours away.... To everyone on the east coast, be safe. I know Buffalo will not "feel" anything until tomorrow, but don't eff with Sandy, she's a real b*tch. Ghost of Dwight Drane
Yes, its jet blue, right now its telling me its on time, but how quickly things can change in 24 hrs. Thanks for the information GoDD. If you get stranded and like seafood, Rustic Inn is around the corner from the airport. Great garlic crabs and crab sampler platter. On the canal and casual. Hard Rock Casino is a few miles away and has a bunch of places to eat. Rooms should be cheap on a Monday if you need to rough it for a night. When in Rome..... dEnnis the Menace
Just went and took our flag down here. Had to teach proper flag folding/flag etiquette (I'm an Eagle Scout and Army Brat...I better know it). Kind of a shame no one knows that anymore. Wind is starting to really pick up, and we almost lost the flag in the last major storm that blew thru Elmira. We wanted to take it down a little sooner this time. MattPie
I'm planning an audience with the Storm King later. Hopefully my appeals will meet with Victory. The second is the new Victory Midlands Stout. It's fan-freaking-tastic. It's "mid-way" between Storm King (Imperial) and Donneybrook (very Guinness-like). It's mid-strength at 5.2% , with a ton of roasted malt and some chocolate and almost a coffee taste. So far, so good..... Of course the lights will wait until after dark to go out.
inkman
So getting married and honeymooning on Sanibel Island was a good idea this week? ;-)
wjag
What has amazed me is my Directv is still working. I lose signal seemingly every times it rains. It's hanging in there. Oh, and this.. I didn't know my trees could bend that much...

inkman
Welcome back. Hope you had a great time--Sanibel is awesome. Wedding was almost perfect. The 50 MPH winds coming off the beach made it a little trying, but we moved ceremony inside and limited beach pics. Now 10 days of R&R, on my second rum runner of the day! TrueBlueGED
So getting married and honeymooning on Sanibel Island was a good idea this week? ;-) Congrats on the marriage! And despite my cynicism of those panicking unnecessarily in some places, I do want to wish the very best for those in the danger zone. The winds here are impressive.. Without a doubt, I'm going to lose my trees. They are bending over and touching the ground before they bounce back up. It's really cranking up now... PASabreFan
Let the looting begin! The racist right wing media is all over this one. They're just itching to pin something on Obama. Just wait till the weekend. That's gonna be the real October Surprise.
