  1. I have been fortunate to explore a LOT and have loved every second of it. Here is a snippet *I have stayed in every state along the entire east coast from Maine to Key West and Michigan/Ohio *Vegas *Cali: San Fran, Monterrey, San Jose, Pebble Beach, Highway 1 *Negril, Jamaica *Nassau, Bahamas *Cancun, Mexico *All of the Florida Keys *Panama City, FL *Washington and Oregon *Melbourne, Australia *Spain, Italy, and France Up next: Big Island, Hawaii and Peru But, I feel my best trip was six glorious weeks in Europe during June through August of 2015. One of my closest friends was getting married in Italy that summer and my best friend and I were both invited. I convinced her (my BFF) to travel with me for six weeks surrounding that wedding and, man, was THAT a summer I will never forget! Spain: Barcelona; France: Aix en Provence, Nice, and the French Riveria; Monaco: Monte Carlo; Italy: Florence, Venice, Amalfi Coast, and Rome. My BFF was with me the whole time. 10ish days surrounding the wedding brought our group of eight close friends to Florence to live it up and then all of us went to Venice together. I was able to fulfill my Mom's lifelong dream of seeing the Vatican and Sistine Chapel and she came over for the last 9 days of my journey. Simply AMAZING. There is just something about watching your Mom look like a little kid on Christmas in the middle of Vatican City that can never be duplicated or removed from your heart/brain; it is the reverse of what parenting is all about and I still get weepy when I look at pictures of her two years later. Travel, my friends! It is good for the soul :)
  2. Spain won my heart over the summer of 2015! I just visited the parts that you mentioned this past summer (3 weeks: end of July through mid August) and am already yearning to go back. Malaga was such a beachy, fun town; I loved being there and being able to travel so many other fun cities while also taking the time to relax at Malagueta Beach or any other parts. I recommend hitting up Barcelona on your next trip. I spent 12 nights there in 2015 and still needed more time, so went back this summer and split my time between there and Malaga. My goodness, do I LOVE that city! And, while your're in BCN, make arrangement to spend at least one night in Montserrat. Life changing, indeed! Feel free to let me know if you need any suggestions; I travel on a small budget and I do it up WELL! DO it while you can! We share the same philosophy. My wanderlust is my newest relationship....hasn't let me down yet :)
  3. True, you're a college professor, right? Your post validates all of the thoughts me and my high school colleagues have regarding what high school policies are doing for collegiate level life. I offer you my sincerest apologies. Things suck worse at my level and I know you knowing that is no consolation prize.
  4. If you are looking to do anything outside of the classroom, you will need a different degree. I graduated from SUNY Geneseo with an Elementary and Special Education Degree and a minor in Spanish. I taught 3 years at the primary level and then 7 at the high school level. I then decided that I wanted to be a counselor. My experience didn't matter. I got my Masters from Johns Hopkins and now am set to do anything I would like at any level (teaching/counseling level, that is) and, if I finally decide to do what I need to do to get my LCPC, I can also work at a private practice or establish my own. Each program is different. JHU required 48 credits, some institutions do not; most require less. You will be exempt from extra internship hours because of your teaching experience, so at least there is that :) Big picture, they are one in the same. K-12 level, you are looking at being labeled as a counselor. Anything beyond the high school level, you're looking at being labeled as academic advisor, which falls under that "higher education personnel." Potato, poh-tat-toe....the higher the level the more "sophisticated" the label. Additionally, as an advisor, you will not have to delve too much into the social-emotional piece; you are mostly there to help with class selection and academic decisions. As a counselor, your role is deeply rooted in the social-emotional, behavioral, and academic pieces.
  5. Scratch that. Just like the Sabres-Blackhawks game.
  6. Shaping up to be just like the Sabres-Pens game.
  7. From someone who is reportedly so cerebral and intelligent, he makes some incredibly dumb decisions. Gionta? No comment. Kane? He, I suppose, deserved the nod because of his effort.....but, he misses the net completely 97% of the time; clearly he scores more after hours at the Marriott. He is a lot of flash (I appreciate his game, but his outlandish shot selection choices are cringe-worthy). ROR? Normally a decent decision, but he has been quiet and seemingly in a funk lately. Agreed on your SO selections. I think McGinn and Girgs should break into that rotation from time to time, too.I'd like to see Pysyk give it a try, too....he is a smart player and would probably take a calculated shot that would actually be close to representing an actual scoring chance vs. what we saw tonight. Deflating way to end a game that saw some great effort.
  8. Good presence on the PP. PP is usually frustrating (aside from recently), so I will take it!
  9. It was just a correlation based off of not agreeing with what was happening and wanting something else. I understand correlation does not lead to causation, so was making the simplest comparison I could think of. He is pressing the issue, but I am not so sure it will necessarily result in what he wants.
  10. Fair enough. Lindros did the same kind of thing Drouin is kind of doing and look what happened to his career. If the same positive results would happen to Drouin when he became a Sabre, I certainly would not be mad. Is the gamble worth it? Depends on all of the parts that it'll take to take said gamble, of course.
  11. I know it is a rumor, but...... I dislike the seemingly front-office dislike of Pysyk. I feel more confident and secure about things when he is on the ice because he always makes the smart, defensive play. He is not a liability, ever, and - as everyone always states on this board - we don't hear much about his name/game and that is typically a good thing when it comes to defensemen...but, I also respect that people want more "electricity" and offense from him. I truly think trading away Pysyk would be a genuine loss for our team; he presents himself as an unassuming, unsung hero type of guy. However, I would not be opposed to losing Ennis. I feel he is on the decline and is becoming more and more injury prone because of his size. I appreciate his Mighyt Mouse stature and efforts but he is, in my opinion, looking to more likely end up like the next Gionta...although I don't think he ever had "it" at one point like Gionta once did.
  12. Thanks Bio....I have a looooooooooooonnnngggg way to go, but I feel I am off to a good start. If only I had never started dating beer and vodka.... Physics, word! Poor timing by my immune system, but I have enjoyed my time now that I am healthier. Vacation suits me better than the gym...and bronchitis! ;)
