  1. I follow it from a distance, checking in on the Nottingham Panthers from time to time. I studied abroad at the University of Nottingham back in the day and the city still holds a place in my heart. Still a big Forest fan, and although I have never caught a Panthers game live, I have visited the National Ice Center. Nice place!
  2. There are some things to like about those jerseys. However, the oversized crest isn’t one of them. For me at least.
  3. Is anyone else having issues with the WGR or Radio.com? I know I read they were having issues with it in the summer when they first launched it but I’ve never had a problem before. I’m trying to listen to the game right now, but it’s stuck in endless loop of commercials. Any suggestions how to get past this?
  4. If I heard Ray correctly, Chara became the all time most penalized Buffalo opponent tonight. What a villain!
  5. Anyone having problems with their MSG feed? Mine me keeps cutting out, saying it’s unavailable. Spectrum Cable in the Northern Catskills.
  6. Good topic. Funny you should bring it up. The timing is really a coincidence since I’ll be starting a radio show next Sunday on WIOX FM Roxbury (a community radio station in the Catskills, where I live). It’s called The Spirit of Radio: Reagan to Clinton. It’s a retrospective of college rock, new wave, synth pop and post punk from 1980-1992. I’m pretty excited to weigh in on this topic. I’ll come back later.
  7. Due to recovery from his injury, his off season workouts would have been very limited. He most likely is not at the optimal fitness level for an NHL player.
  8. Lindy is working for the Rangers. Assistant coach.
  9. Consider it done. Are we the only two people who own Craig Rivet jerseys? Maybe if enough of us wear Rivet jerseys tonight, the streak will end.
  10. So, based on superstitioun alone, would this be a good night or a bad night to pull my Craig Rivet jersey out of the closet?
  11. Okposo's name was spelled wrong on his name plate. Image was attached.
  12. I was listening in the car today since I was on the road. But when I got home a friend of mine sent me this picture. Did anyone else notice this? Is this organization just a total disaster or what? It's like amateur hour from the top down.
  13. Man guys, I have probably been to a dozen Sabres-Islanders games and I have never been treated like I was tonight. It wasn't just a few meatheads either. It was pretty widespread throughout the night. Started outside Barclays and continued right through until we got into our cab. Bathrooms, concourse, seats. You name it. Anyone else share that experience?
  14. I'll be there tonight. First regular season game in Barclays for me. I have been to all sorts of exhibitions and prospect games there but have never had my schedule line up when Buffalo was in town. It's always strange for me being in that building because I remember living down there before the Atlantic Center was even built and the Barclays center was just a deep LIRR railroad trench. There wasn't much around at that point other than gypsy cab tire shops. So it's going to be hockey, then the 5th avenue bar crawl back down towards our apartment. Let's Go Buffalo!
  15. Valley View Cheese Factory in Conewango has been a staple in my family for years. Not fancy or sophisticated, but many tasty and interesting locally made cheeses. I try to get back there when I visit but I usually only make it once a year. They make it on site, in the heart of Western New York dairy country. Amish shop there regularly and I have even had an Amish watchmaker repair my antique Fredonia Watch Company pocket watch for cheese from Valley View as barter.
  16. Wearing the new 90's white Dale Hawerchuk jersey that I just got to fill the hole in my game day wardrobe left by the Foligno trade.
  17. We have probably played together. I have moved away from Brooklyn since but I was in the first group to have ice time at Lakeside in Prospect Park. I lived right on the park too. I noticed that in a later post you mentioned that you go to City Ice Pavilion for morning skates. I played there for years too. I was a Great Scottsmen. I Still play with them when I happen to be back in town on Saturday nights. Just bought tickets for the Isles home opener against Buffalo. Pretty psyched.
  18. Hopefully he spends most of his time in Rochester or the press box. Does one of you guys who follow the Amerks closely know the details of the limits of NHL experience rules? How close are they getting?
  19. Yes. That is indeed straight out of a memo from the glass half full department. I like your positive outlook.
  20. He has played fewer than 70 games 4 of the last 5 seasons and he's now on the 4th one year contract of his career. He was bought out of the only multi-year contract he signed in that span. As a stop gap, he fills a hole and that's fine. Pardon me if I manage to temper my excitement.
  21. I dunno folks. Lots of high fives in here for this signing. In my opinion, the best thing about it is that It's only a one year contract.
  22. Any chance he makes the 2018 USA olympics roster?
