Anderson made a hasek like save there in the 2nd, he was solid enough, though some rebounds left a bit to be desired. He was hung out to dry a bit there as well.

TT needed this game, he was in front and his length just made it impossible to be stopped.

F Domi, and F the refs for that call, should be reviewable.

I hate Toews face, not as bad as Marchand, but it's punchable

So much this (as the kids say)! I can't stand him. I think it's those coke pupils.

Granato lit a fire under them after the second period… Much more assertive… Checked into the boards… Went to the net… Excellent response from the players…

Both of Tage's goals were down low in the tough area. He's strong on his gates and is capable of battling with the puck while getting battered. A few years ago he was a "skinny" player who was being outmuscled. Now that he's gotten more physically mature he knows how to use his strength and leverage to his advantage.

I thought Okposo was driving the play at the end of the third period. He's a character guy and player. The epitome of leadership!

Had him working with Skinner and Thompson… Got the two of them energized and was rewarded with two assists… Nice move by Granato…

Granato knows how to juggle lines to suit the situation. He has a great feel for the game and his players.

He had a couple excellent shifts late, we needed that from him. He's been not very noticeable so far this season.

Okposo is the type of player whose value goes beyond individual stats. He has a presence about him that adds to the group. He's been in this league for quite a while so it would be a challenge to always go full throttle. But when needed he's timely turning it on.

But if he's out there, some production would be nice. It helped a lot tonight.

Does it mean more if it comes from Kevin? Just type it if it's your opinion. I wasn't calling out Kevin, specifically.

I get that VO is Sabres' twitter "bad guy" right now but as with Sabres twitter, always, it's dog with a bone when it comes to narratives. VO can't just be struggling in certain areas he needs to be OMGDAWORSTGUY look at da analytics.

He's also scoring a lot. That helps you win.

There isn't a player we can put in that's in system who's going to do a better job, if we benched VO. Benched our leading/one of our leading goal scorers.

I'm not so opposed to a VO trade in theory as the idea we need to liquidate him for picks because of the youth we have coming. Is that not your argument? It's twitters, and that's what we're doing here apparently

He’s the perfect argument for the NHL allowing an extra player to dress in a specialist role.
He is excellent on the power play, but sucks at 5v5 for the most part. ( His Line was good tonight in a small sample size, but that’s probably more on Quinn than the other two)

Cozens and Peterka had Their Worst Game of Season when He was added to their line.
He cannot tank other players if this team is going succeed.
Tonight the Power Play worked, most of the season it hasn’t.

The same offseason that saw Thompson and Samuelsson get 7 year extensions, saw Olofsson get two. That’s not by accident.

The Sabres took calls on VO as the trade deadline last year. Per Friedman one of the biggest barriers was the fact He was a RFA and teams particularly the Rangers were worried about how much His Extension would be. Now that He has cost certainty for two seasons, the Sabres can retain 50% and increase His Value.  I’m not looking to move Him for a Draft Pick but as part of a package for  a RHD.

In regards to Kevin, He is pretty well respected by the Hockey Analytics Community and is followed by a majority of its members including Sam Ventura, Dom Galamini and Matt Barlowe. (AKA the Sabres Analytics Department)

I gave up on trying to stream the game a few minutes into the 3rd.  Not sure what was going on tonight, but even normally reliable streaming sites had issues tonight.  Oh well.  I guess I didn’t need to see that comeback.

i still don’t like what I am seeing with this team.  I realize we are down 2 key D men, but even the forward play was atrocious through large parts of the game.

And I stand with @LTS.  Now that I was looking for it, you could plainly see Chicago choking off our fast break game.  Very effectively in the 2nd period.  Again, no idea if it continued into the 3rd.  Obviously the good guys won so something improved in the last 5-10 minutes anyway.

Here. This right here is not the reality. The kraken did that but Montreal did not. If we had won that game everyone including you would be all sunshine and sparkles but nope we lost so time to panic.

I can speak for myself. If you want to know how I'd be, you can ask. This team has been lost in its defensive zone all season and continues to be lost. If they cannot get the clean breakout they get trapped and then they are hosed. As was said, the "bounce' doesn't happen if you clear the zone. This "domination" doesn't matter much if the opposing team can capitalize on the fewer changes they get while the Sabres cannot score while dominating.

Enjoy the game. @LTS

Hey you know what? The won, so I'll take it.  But they continue to do the same stupid crap and get themselves trapped in their own end because teams are camping on their stretch passes and once they lose the puck they lose their man in the zone and boom.  In this case, they just wouldn't clear the crease either. They are playing soft. They finally got into the crease in the Chicago end and look what happened.  This team is trying to play a finesse game against teams that are clogging up their speed and they're not adapting very well.  Even their sustained offensive zone pressure is usually at the perimeter.

If that's what you consider my sunshine then you probably won't need sunscreen.

So now we can’t beat bad teams that are fast? That might not be good for the race to 8th. I want to only take my kids to the games where we play bad, slow teams. How many of those do we have?

What kind of comment even is this? Are you trying to be snarky? It failed. You're like the NFL player that jumps into a fumble scramble 5 seconds after everyone else already has. Looking for an opportunity to pile on and punch someone in the nuts.

Also congratulations, you'll save money because you won't have to take your kids to any games!

When You are down 3 of the 6 Defenseman they dressed on Opening Night, sitting Your Best Defensive Forward is a decision. Luckily it didn’t bite them in the butt tonight

I'm not sure what games early in the year you were watching. Their defensive positioning in their own end was miles beyond where it was any time in the last decade.

Very few people were standing alone at the side of the net or wide open hanging out coming down the slot.

Hasn't been as good the last few games down Joker and Samuelsson but to act like they were running around in their own end the first few games is simply disingenuous and actually quite comical.

You look at the Chicago goals and they were the result of not clearing the front of the net, something that Boosh and Muel excel at.  I think we need Clague and Fitz and yes, Power, to pay more attention to that.
