what the hell is going on in las vegas, man.

what does the coach gain here by not taking the high road? "obviously, we wish robin the best in his recovery, and we have to be ready to carry on without him, tonight and hopefully into the post season."

Coach seems to be a guy that takes dissent as a personal affront, and can't keep his mouth shut. I'm not sure if I hope that Lehner forces a trade in the off-season or stays and grumbles the whole time.

We can go on and on naming very good and great players that were not top ten picks.

Where's that cool ass chart that looks like a boss sledding hill -- the X axis is draft position, and the Y axis is number of NHL games played, or a likelihood of having a successful NHL career -- something like that. It is a precipitous and steady decline as you move away from the top of the draft.

But gather, ye, yer lottery tickets while ye may.

many versions of it out there, here is one:  https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/analyzing-value-nhl-draft-picks/

Another good one:  https://myslu.stlawu.edu/~msch/sports/Schuckers_NHL_Draft.pdf

Bottom line...Of course you want the higher pick, but by the time you get down into the teens, there really isn't much of a difference between picks 16-17 and picks 20-21.

True.  And a few years back people didn't sweat it too much when St. Louis snuck into the playoffs.  Eh, no biggie, pick 17'll essentially be the same as pick 15.  Except that pick didn't end up 17-ish.  It ended up the absolute last pick in round 1.

As long as the Kin-ig-hits have life, that pick can't be depended upon to be comparable to pick 16.  MHO.

The VGK pick doesn't need to be some superstar.  Just have him be the guy who lights the lamp with the game winner to win the cup.

That's all I want.

we can’t have a team full of superstars. You can’t pay them all.

Perhaps, but I'd still rather have the option to pick higher.  Who knows, maybe a playoff bound team near the bottom may want to trade up for our 2nd 1st rounder and offer something of interest.

This is the game of the year so far.

I'm watching for the high drama.

I actually think Eichel will come up big tonight.

He hasn't done ***** in a while so you gotta figure he knows he has to show up.

If LVGK loses, I don't care if Eichel scores goals.

High road?  We don't know the facts.  Lehner is a controversial character.

Interesting line combos for Vegas today:

How many non-hurt players are on IR to give them cap room?

Right. Jus sayin. If he has any pride, he'll show up tonight.

Unless he's hurt already and trying to play through it he has no excuses left.

And I don't care about the guy anymore just want the remaining draft picks.

His pride wasn’t on the line five of the last six games?
