Jimmy Vesey Traded to Sabres for 3rd in 2021

Cheap depth scorer added for a single peanut. We needed more cheap depth, so it works for me...unless we don't get another legit winger. Vesey can't be the answer.

Defensive nightmare.  He's like Sheary's doppelganger.

You “converse” AND follow Harrington? May I ask ... um, why?

No, I follow Harrington so I can take pot shots at his ignorant tweets. It provides a mechanism to off-set his bias with an alternate viewpoint for those who do follow him because they actually want to hear what he has to say.

And, more importantly, I rarely ever tweet at him.

No way. Sheary is way better defensively.

the diebytheblade write-up is solid, balanced. concludes with this:

A trade that included a late round pick or a player like Marco Scandella would make some sense. He would fill the need to improve the bottom six on the forward lineup. Vesey only has one year left on his deal that carries a $2.275 million cap hit. After next season he’ll become an unrestricted free agent. The Sabres may get a motivated player in a contract year.

He's a UFA after this year too, does anyone think he actually stays?

I'm really gonna miss booing that guy.

On the contrary, now you boo him more. Like 39 more times more a year!

The other question is, will he prove he's worth keeping. Let's take things slow with him...

By points alone, he would be a top 6 forward in 9/16 playoff teams. Colorado, Boston, Dallas, Carolina, St Louis, Winnepeg, Pittsburgh, Nashville, Islanders

Spending a pick on a replacement player for 1 year seems stupid

Is this showing he’s a disaster defensively??

Disagree. I'd call it defensible, at worst.

Maybe he will like the city / team more than he expected?

Maybe he has grown up / changed in the last few years and what he wanted from New York is no longer what he wants?

Spurned though?  As I just tweeted at Harrington.

Vesey had the option to choose between wings or pizza.  He chose pizza.  It doesn't mean he hates wings, he just preferred pizza.

He chose between bad wings and decent pizza.

the write-up at diebytheblade provided some context on his linemates, and how his performance improved away from certain players (who are dumpster fires defensively).

Choosing NYR over the Sabres means he hadn't grown up?
