I think we pretty much all agree that if Botterill doesn't bring in a legit 2C, at least, he's whiffed hard. But let's see him whiff before spazzing.

That would make him, if I am remembering correctly, the fourth highest goal scorer on the team right now. This might be a very good one year move. ddaryl
If Krueger can coach then we will see a serious uptick even if we don't bring in another player. Krueger is the real difference maker for this year IMO. If he is just marginally better than Phil then that could put us in playoff conversation I truly prefer Botterill sit back and let the 1st few days of FA playout... But the reality is any real significant player will come back via trade and that can happen 2 - 4 months or even the trade dead line...

Spending a 3rd round pick is a modest investment (Rangers were probably wanting more originally, but now they want Panarin so they cut loose Vesey to create more cap space). Vesey will want to test the market again as a UFA, so he will be motivated to have a career year. Buffalo can then maybe recoup the 3rd back from a team looking to add a rental at the trade deadline. I think this is a good value move. Oh no! Are we already sellers at the trade deadline?!?

I’m a Raptors fan so my NBA belly is satisfied. Mainly just annoyed that we actually pulled the trigger on Vesey and that Panarin is with the Rangers.

Messing up our 2C space by trading ROR and inadequately addressing it last off-season and during the year, then, especially, doubling down on it again would be a mistake. It’s two hours into free agency and I like what they’ve done so far. Let everyone fill their cap space, grab value guys before the others are ready to work on that part of their roster. Two top six forwards are coming. 20 minutes ago, CallawaySabres said: I agree but our #2 Center is going to be a veteran FA bandaid Nope
