Sabres Development Camp

Brawndo

Recommended Posts

Good to see the Sabres' habit of being comically out of touch has continued post-Brandon.

Right? Man, it's been awhile since I've been this fired up. The teams quality of play over the past few years haven't stopped me from buying tickets but dumb decisions like this get me closer to thinking about it. I'm sure the team starts winning and everyone comes out again but to me this is alienating the die hearts that carry u through tough times. I'm pissed off right now. I let the poor Sabres customer support guy know that too.

I'm also keenly aware the sth are also almost all die hearts as well.....

I get the sense that the reason for the Season Ticket Holder limit on the tournament is to prevent what happened when Eichel was drafted where they almost filled Key Bank Arena. Why they don't host the tournament I'm unsure of, but if the tournament was free for all there's a good chance 6,000 + people would flood the HarborCenter and they'd have to turn people away. I'll be pissed if I can't stream it but I do understand somewhat why they are doing it.

Then have the tournament in the Arena...

This is going to be an exciting D camp.

Jbot said Nylander, Mittelstadt, Dahlin and Samuelsson will be there.  I assume Pu, Borgen and all the Fins and Swedes including Davidsson, Olofsson, Asplund, Pilut, Weissbach, UPL, and Oskari will be there.  Will Hickey also be there?  Should be our most talented camp in years.

I think when they made the trade they said Hickey would be there.

If we had kept Compher, Pysyk, Armia, Zadorov, signed Petersen & Cagguila, we'd be a much better hockey team.  Just saying.

Girgensons - Eichel - Reinhart

Wilson - Compher - Armia

Caggiula and his 20 points - Larsson - Okposo

xxx - xxx - Pominville

Zadorov - Ristolainen

Scandella trade doesn't happen, so

McCabe - Pysyk

Beaulieu - Bogosian

Ullmark

Petersen

Meh. Much better?

Why wouldn’t the Scandella trade happen? Why do you have Pommers on the roster then? Where is Foligno? We probably don’t trade for Baloo. Where are NCAA FA’s Erod and Nelson? Where is Mittelstadt? Why do you still have Bogo? If you keep Armia then you also keep the 1st rd pick, and maybe the Kane/Bogo trade doesn’t happen and Brock Boesser is a Sabres. Yes the team would be better. We’d also have saved millions on TM’s lousy acquistions. Edited by GASabresIUFAN

Good call, I thought about the Scandella thing after I had written the forwards down. I don't think we'd have needed to make a middling pair trade if we had had two more defenders under contract, especially with how weak the forward group was.

I was more building a group that would have played last season, which is why Mittelstadt isn't there. Throw Rodrigues in an empty spot, where he was playing this year.

Your following "maybe" scenario is certainly not enough to convince me the team would be meaningfully better.

I'd guess we wouldn't be the worst in the league but we certainly wouldn't be a playoff team.

I have no idea why you tossed those things in. It's not like we didn't try. If you're going to play the "what if" game, you should probably limit it to what we had control over.

Edit: Furthermore, Compher + Zadorov > O'Reilly is a really hard sell.

I think Karabacek is still under contract, but I would not be surprised if we have cut ties, or intend to.

Dude still can’t make the Amerks after two years pro.

I would be shocked if Hurley is ever offered a contract.
