From the footage I've seen his shot looks harder and more accurate than Antipin, but only time will tell how he handles a larger playing surface... GASabresIUFAN Posted May 17, 2018 Report Share Posted May 17, 2018 On a more serious note both Dahlin and Pilut played in the SHL last season. Dahlin was the 3rd highest scoring D on his team while Pilut was voted top D in the league. However we are pencilling the kid Dahlin in our top 4 and sending Pilut to Roch. Dahlin is a great talent no question but he may also need an adjustment period while Pilut, because of age and pro experience could make the jump to the NHL. These European d-men are used to a lot more room in the offensive zone so I see them pinching quite a bit. Those opportunities don't present themselves as much on NA ice surfaces, and when they do the player wont have as much time as they are used to. We don't know if he promised him an NHL job to get him to sign like TM promised Antipin. Anyone who is voted the top D in the KHL/SHL or Finnish Elite league at 22 is a very very good hockey player and we'd be wise to reserve judgement until we see him here. We have Scandella, McCabe, Beaulieu on the left. I would hope Pilut can beat out Beaulieu for at least that 3rd pairing spot. On the right we have Risto, Dahlin, Bogo, and Nelson.
