  1. I've been critical of Beane's drafting for a while. Can we even call those three successes? Both are solid rotational DLinemen, but neither was a home run. He's done decent down the draft board, and I know they've drafted late which makes it tougher, but he hasn't really hit on anyone in the first round besides Allen and, arguably, Edmunds. I am hopeful for Kincaid, though.
  2. Take a break, even a long one. Easy to get burnt out. We bought a house in Feb. '21 and ended up with a nearly whole-home renovation job; by November I was cooked. We took December off entirely and then I felt like I could finally get back to it.
  3. Yep, Allen was a lotto ticket with low odds that paid out.
  4. Happy with that Torrence pick, thats a nice grab that far down.
  5. When we were in the middle of our remodel in '21 and '22 the kitchen was the last thing "done" (not that anything is done yet). We had what we called the 'refugee kitchen' set up in the one bedroom that had a microwave and a toaster oven. The fridge was plugged in in the living room. I do not miss those days, haha.
  6. If I never do another Jager Bomb in my life it will be too soon.
  7. I never know what to do with Edmunds. Fans hate him, pundits love him, and I don't know enough about coverages and football tactics to know which is real. I think he did more than people will realize, taking up space in lanes and being a problem for QBs which doesn't always show up in stats or highlights. LB stats are always a little weird anyways; their role means they get a lot of tackles which sound good, but it counts whether the tackle is after 2 yards or 12. Paul Pozluzny lead the league in tackles one year. I think the story with Edmunds will probably end up being that we'll miss him more than we expected. Whether he's worth the money he got in FA will always be a discussion without a great answer, both here AND in Chicago.
  8. Yup, just got a similar quote, Cape Cod in Kenmore, house and garage, full tear off, soffit and gutter replacemnt, a few windows. 75K. And that was without the materials.
  9. On loan. Only matters because they can bring him back without "recalling" him I think.
  10. I'm the opposite of some of this, I actually think the problem is that they NEED the energy of the crowd right now. On the road they can get that energy from keeping them quiet or getting booed, at home they need the cheers and chants to keep the vibes going. I was at that CBJ game. Team looked flat the whole time. Coming out in the third there the crowd starting getting into it BEFORE they scored (I will point exclusively to this 8 yo kid who was dancing on the Jumbotron getting the crowd going. Seriously.). Once the crowd was going, they started going. They're young, I think they need that little extra bit of motivation to get their legs going. Its why they score a million goals every black and red game; that crowd is always 1) a sellout and 2) riled up.
  11. My wife and I have been renovating our home for the last 2 years (it was a forclosure that had been a rental for many years. Not horrible shape, but just ugly), with major help from my FIL. I think the main reason he's helped is that he gets to buy all sorts of new toys. Which is great, because then I get to BORROW said toys.
  12. Going to this game tonight, gonna be one of about 15 people there I think.
  13. god, that stupid losing streak lol
  14. I figured it was coming when he scaled back to 3 days earlier this year. Sad to see him go. Been watching/listening to him for at least 20 years, back from his Empire Sports days. He's always been sort of the most 'level-headed' of the big 4 hosts, and he brought a nice balance to the team. And then, the few times when he really went off on someone or something were extra special I'll never forget him talking about he had never tried peanut butter.
  15. A Perreault slug would be the worst/funniest jersey ever.
  16. I just want to posit that a Grigorenko jersey is actually amazing and you should just wear that ***** with pride, lol. But I love having the random people everyone forgets about.
  17. idk about the injury, by ya boi is gonna be out for a week with that sun burn
  18. oh I have no interest making it a regular or more dangerous thing haha
  19. Up in Kenmore, my wife, I AND our dog slept right through it, haha. Kinda disappointed actually!
  20. ok, but thats not the same thing. I agree that I wouldn't trade for him if its not for a long term, or at least the cost better be way lower. Like, a couple later round picks.
  21. I get long term, but why do you think they can't afford 10m next year? They're 20M under the cap right now with more coming off than going on, even with a chunky Cozens contract.
  22. You're not wrong, but I don't think its impossible. Quinn and Peterka are 4 years from being RFAs, you can't worry about them right now. Thompson is on what looks like an incredibly friendly deal until 2030, plus he and Skinner are already baked in to, again, the team with the most cap space in the league. Next years goalies are probably UPL and Comrie, the next year you're hoping its UPL (who you probably bridge unless he turns out to be Miller) and Levi. Dahlin, Power, Cozens, maybe Krebs (who's looking like a nice 3rd line Center, but not a superstar), that's what we're talking about, and again thats next year for Cozens, 2 years for the other two. NHL projections have the cap rising 10m by then (probably generous, but still): https://www.capfriendly.com/salary-cap. Thats one of those contracts right there. You can say they don't want to go get him, and you're probably right, but the reasoning shouldn't be "he's too expensive". You can make it work. He's young, fills a role they don't really having now or in the pipeline, and is ready to play today. He also would have the 4th most playoff experience(35 games) on the team after Anderson(48), Jost(46), and Tuch (44).
  23. So I'm no cap expert, but why not? https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/sabres We currently have the most cap space in the league, next year the Ben Bishop contract is coming off, and Okposo's contract is done (even if they resign him it will be for what, 2m? Currently he's at 6m). Anderson is gone, which is another 1.5. My belief is that one of Mittelstat or Olofsson will have to go out with Meier coming in, which is another 2-5m right there. 23-24 is Cozen's contract, but I don't think that'll break the bank; he's been good, but he's not pushing for all star status or something. Maybe 5.5-7M per? So we basically swap his and Okposo's contract. Granted, they can't spend crazy; 24-25 is the year to keep your eye on: Dahlin, Powers, Krebs, UPL. That could be expensive, especially if Powers keeps rising here. But still, thats 2 years off. HOPEFULLY the cap rises (no guarantee with Bettman in charge, but still). I think you can make it work with some good contract negotiating.
  24. I mean, -25C is -13F, thats pretty cold lol. And at -40 they are actually both the same.
