If they did, he'd be here already. Likely accurate. But, if he & his agent thought surely they'd get an NHL offer by the end of September & the Sabres saw a reason to have him at the AHL level but (like 30 other teams) don't see him as an NHLer any longer; that would be a reason for him not to be brought in yet. He's supposedly better than Tarasenko, Stamkos, Tavares, Hedman, Backstrom among many others....... I really hope to God Matthews trainwrecks this season, just to see the NHL stop riding him like a golden goose. Maybe Jack Eichel should put up or shut up.
