Housley Named Sabres Head Coach

So, we get the most touted young GM candidate and the most-touted emerging coach.

Because Buffalo?

Let's see how things work out.  I'm not putting that phrase away yet.  Didn't someone say he's played the most games in NHL history to not win a Stanley Cup?  That's a because Buffalo

P.K. Subban, a former Norris Trophy winner who just finished his first season with the Predators, raved about Housley to NHL.com last month.

"He brings such a different element to coaching because of the player he was; he sees the game unlike probably anyone else who's ever played the game," Subban said. "When he talks, all that matters to me is what is coming out of his mouth."

Ryan Ellis, who's been with Nashville for the entirety of Housley's tenure, spoke highly of his communication abilities.

"Phil has been awesome,"he told Yahoo! Sports."Since 'Day One' he came in here, I think for a lot of the D he was a similar player as the way he thought the game and I guess thought the game should be played. Just the little things talking with him day-in-day-out the knowledge that he brings … Obviously his numbers, his games played, his points all that stuff speak for themselves so it's easy to listen to a guy like that and take what he has to say and understand it and learn from it."

I mean, how are we going to objectively do this?

Consider yourself no longer welcome in the Bunker.

How about if he plays over 60 games and puts up his best ever PPG against seasons where he's played over 50 games, then I pick your avatar and you have to keep it until the Sabres pick a D man in the draft? Vice versa for if I lose.

Edit: if he doesn't play 60 games or gets traded then the whole bet is nullified.

I think 60 is too low. He's not a very feasible option if he's missing over 20 games a year.

Players miss time. It happens.

But what does it prove if he plays 61 games? That's just his usual mark that we complain about. The over under has to be set properly.

He's actually averaged 65 games played per season, taking out the lockout shortened season, and his rookie year. The over under shouldn't be set at a number below his career average, when how much time he misses is something we all continually lament.

I don't think we're as concerned about time missed as we are about how he plays when he's in the game. If he misses 15-20 but plays his best hockey ever, that's still plenty of hockey. I think he just has to hit 60 to be worth the roster spot (if his production improves).
