Taro T Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago Interesting. Whoever had 14-6-3 on their card when camp opened, please share whatever it is you're on. Guess if a D-man not named Dahlin gets hurt, until they can get an emergency callup of Jones, they'd run Dahlin for 30-32 minutes; Byram for 26-28; leaving the other 3 ~20 minutes each hoping for a LOT of PP time. I get the injuries to Power and Kesselring jumbled the D group, but Lyon, Georgiev and Ellis in net? I get pick by up Ellis. His AHL numbers are very good and he wasn’t displacing Binnington but why keep Georgiev? Who else would you want? Their #1 Luukkonen is on the IR. Quote

sabresouth Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Ka has had 5-6 years to fix the goalie position. I'd say we're in as bad of or worse shape than when ka came here. 1 Quote
OverPowerYou Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Now that we are officially eliminated from playoff contention, who can we root for this year? Should we jump on the bandwagon of whatever team wins the Stanley cup with Alex Tuch? 1 1 Quote

As to who I would have acquired; hard to know who even was available and admittedly the goaltender market was thin this offseason, but this band-aid goaltending has been the status quo since Ullmark left. Surely there was some opportunity over the last 5 years to find a decent starting goalie? 1 3 Quote

UPL had a nice 23-24 season, but it did not warrant a five year extension because it was the outlier to his career trajectory. He got hot for 40 games and KA was hoodwinked. You would like to think the GM knows his guys and this was a good decision. It wasn’t. And he stopped trying to improve the position once he inked that deal. Quote

SABRES 0311 Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago 11 games in October I think. We’ll know what this team is by November. Is Geertsen in the lineup as a response to Rempe? Quote

Surely there was some opportunity over the last 5 years to find a decent starting goalie? There were a bunch of goalies that could have been traded for when expansion happened. Ullmark was a free agent so they didn't need to protect him and could easily have added one of them, from teams that had two, cheap. I am sure Adams just assumed Ullmark would take his offer and it was a dumb decision. 19 minutes ago, SABRES 0311 said: 11 games in October I think. We’ll know what this team is by November. No disrespect to Geertsen, I like him, but he's no match for the heavyweights. 1 hour ago, OverPowerYou said: Now that we are officially eliminated from playoff contention, who can we root for this year? Personally I want to root AGAINST Edmonton for the next two years as I am sure if he doesn't win McDavid will leave after this good faith extension. I hate to cheer for Montreal. I have historically always hated them, but I simply like the way they are rebuilding. If they can get in and knock out Toronto I'm happy with that. Then they can lose to whichever Florida team survives. We all know however that Los Angeles will go to the final and lose, because they have Perry. Quote
Flashsabre Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago (edited) Rumor is when the Sabres Brass go to make the Official Team Lineup that the page is blank except for one name: Jacob Bryson. They fill in the other names in pen but Bryson’s is already there in typed print.😁 Edited 15 hours ago by Flashsabre Quote

Pimlach Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago What happened to Zac Jones? Did Ryan Johnson beat him out? This looks like another California Golden Seals type season. Quote

I said in the summer that Geertsen was targeted - by Lindy - to be used in this specific role, I’ve seen nothing to change my mind. This is a coach who has already got - from his own mouth - three Swiss Army knives on the roster (Danforth, Krebs and McLeod). It’s a coach who likes to roll his top 9 hard and use his 4th liners situationally. And it’s a coach who sat Andrew Peters on the bench for 55 minutes a game, and played him 55 games a year. I’d say it’s less deterrent than it is response, but Geertsen is getting the final roster spot. Well, at least Dahls, Tucky, and Tommer won’t have to fight if we are carrying Gertie. Quote
SabresBillsFan Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago I watched Geertsen a lot last season on the Silver Knights and I’m totally shocked he made the Sabres. He never stood out in any way. Yes, he will drop the gloves but other than that he’s not gonna do anything. 1 Quote

If you aren't willing to defend yourself or you teammates because Gertie is sitting on the bench, your team is going to be weaker not stronger. Not saying that's what will happen but toughness is a team effort. 1 1 Quote

Adams POHO, Ruff Senior Consultant, Jarmo or Forton as GM. Appert as HC. It's all the same. Naturally, you then extend the assistant coaches for continuity. And because they're the cheapest coaching staff in the league. All this after a very thorough search and interview process at each position. Yeah, disheartening isnt it... Pegula is either gonna get it or he isnt.... I think as long as the Stadium is number 1 he isnt gonna get it.... my only hope is that he is not absolutely Tommy "the pinball wizard" (IYKYK lol) and will turn some attention after this thing is done... but if you ask me to bet... we are gonna see this as long as he owns the team... Not saying that's what will happen but toughness is a team effort. Correct. Everyone on the team has to toughen up and have a pack mentality. There aren’t many “staged” fights anymore because most teams don’t want the hassle of carrying someone who is a liability and only gives you 5 minutes. They would rather pay a semi tough guy who can play 10 minutes in another role and hold his own if things get out of hand. Ryan Reaves did not help the Leafs last year. Quote
