Jarmo start making some calls buddy.

DeBoer would be a great coach for this team. Great record except for not getting a Cup - he's due. Unfortunately, there is NFW the Sabres hire him. I'm sure DeBoer will have a new job by the end of the weekend.

Every vacancy has been filled and if Sabres aren't moving, who by the end of weekend? Not being a smart ass to your post, he has cycled through a lot of teams already. Only team I could see would be the Isles, new GM gave Roy approval but now?

The Sabres wouldn’t hire the very best coach in the entire world, even if that coach begged TP and KA to hire him.  They are committed to naming Seth Appert as the next HC….whenever Lindy is done.  It’s sad, but inevitable.

I get it. I wouldn’t want to be criticized on National TV. But these players are making millions and there needs to be accountability. It’s not the coach out on the ice letting teams score on him. Yet, such public criticism wouldn’t be tolerated in the corporate world. But, again, these players are the public face of the team and they are compensated extremely well. Grow a pair.

Everytime bad vibes drama incudes a Dallas team, an Angel gets their wings.

Columbus has two firsts in this year’s draft, a prospect pool ranked at least as good as ours, and almost $40 million in real cap-space (they don’t need to move anyone to make room for additions). It will be tough for us to compete for a player like Robertson, when Dallas likely won’t be looking for a big contract back.

It's time for an actual rule change for playoff cap circumventing. Enough is enough already 😂🤣

That rule change will happen the first year that the Sabres are a true cup contender.  Bank on it.

They've already done it to the Sabres when Connolly tried to return.

Here we go😁 He goes on LTIR for the season, Vegas signs Marner and at playoff time he miraculously recovers and plays. Rinse and Repeat for the Knights.

In the pre cap era there were always a few teams that spent way more than others. Only one team won the cup just like now and it was rarely the biggest spending team. So in many ways it's still the same as it was.

You want true equity you 1) base the cap on after tax salary 2) you can allow players to come off LTIR and be on the expanded roster but the on ice team has to remain cap compliant. So if a team like Vegas wanted a Pieterangelo off LTIR they'd have to sit somebody else or dress less players. Their choice. It's a simple fix.

league don't care though. They like favored markets and big markets winning.

All these different fan bases thinking JJ Peterka isn't worth what he's worth is maddening.   I've seen some of the worst trade speculation ever.  It's all due to Adams being a goof.

His respectability, and that of his boss, are well-earned leaguewide.

To the bold: And Buffalo is (or at least was) a favored American market, just like Detroit. I imagine the league was ecstatic when Pegula purchased the team, because finally the team that refused to pay Peca, had been in league control, and lost Hasek, was finally going to spend, build an arena/facility/hotel to host tournaments, etc. This was a market that had high ratings on NBC regardless of who was playing. And then... they spent their money on Leino, Ehrhoff, Moulson, and broke LaFontaine, and announced they were tanking 2 years before McDavid and...  they've gotten what they deserved.

---

For LTIR, it's been obvious every season. Just schedule those surgeries and announce the timeline to return as springtime and you're good. Landeskog could've played in the regular season (and I'm glad he's back -- three seasons was too long without him), but the timing was garbage. Evander Kane, too.

I don't want LTIR to be tied to on-ice only. You'd get stacked teams take on two guys who would gladly rotate. It's fine because only one can play --- but you're removing the talent from elsewhere in the league. Give me a cap floor that is close to the cap ceiling -- you want to have an NHL team, you need to spend a lot, but not too much. Flatten it so there are not any Pittsburgh Pirates teams spending way less than anyone else and just collecting the revenue sharing. If you don't want to play, then you don't get a team.

I go back to: have LTIR last until 7/1 every year. Once you apply that tag, they're out until next year and you can replace them via trade or UFA, but you must be cap compliant on every pre-, regular-, and post-season day. You can go over the cap during the 7/1-August signing period. Once practice starts, you're under the cap.
