Moulson waived

or it may be that other teams love he is locked up long term and is on a dismal Sabres team and all he needs is a change of scenery ,to a team with teammates who actually have a heart

That being said, we'd be utterly mad to trade Jack.

Moulson being waived is the right move time to move on from players like Moulson and reward players who are on the cusp of being moved up permanently.

You sure?  Quebec/Colorado traded Lindros and got two Cups out of the deal.

We would literally have had to bribe another team with draft picks to take his contract. It's simply incredible how bad he got almost overnight.

I think if we were going to re-do the tank and I was the GM, I would only have signed guys to short deals. Journeymen and some guys on the way out. There's like...no point in signing guys to any substantial deals when you're trying to reset. A tank should be as much about re-setting the team's cap as it is the roster.

Oh, you mean like Pouliot, Nolan, Josefson, Antipin, Lehner.....?

but if he retires doesn't he lose all that money?

I think the Sabres don't have to pay Moulson if he retires or otherwise refuses to play wherever the Sabres send him. Retirement + KHL might be worth it. It looks like he gets paid $3M in actual dollars next year, so playing somewhere else might be worth it he really wants to play and/or the new team pays him that much.

I certainly have more faith right now in Jbots than I do in what GMTM did

That was kind of my point.

Even the Pommer/Scandella trade... you have a veteran forward for 2 years and a steady top-4 Dman for 3 years.  You know Pominville is a bit overvalued but he's still a steady secondary producer.

There is NFW that Moulson retires and walks away from the last $4MM he'll ever earn as a pro hockey player.

While I agree that this is a step in the right direction, it's the babiest of baby steps IMHO.  Everyone knows that Moulson stinks, is overpaid and no one wants him.

If they really want to get the attention of the group of losers they've collected, and to start excising the rotten core, they'll need to trade someone like Reino or ROR.

nah, twitter is great

“Get your sh$t together.” - Kyle Okposo on the message waiving Matt Moulson sends to the Sabres’ dressing room.

Jack Eichel is not in a good mood at all. Just slammed his stick into the glass after a power play drill. Has spent the entire practice looking pissed and shaking his head

Maybe he'll be the next to take the C.

I bet Jack scores 6 goals in the next 4 games or something.  That first one will come and the rest will follow.

I think, though, that the answer to Jack's scoring drought is goals by other players, especially the Bottom Six, to take the load of "having to do everything" off Jack.  He's feeling the pressure and it's making him hold his stick too tight.
