This weekend is off to a good start, let's keep it going with another victory.  That means for the Sabres is is a 

MUST WIN!!!

TOR will come out blazing. Sabres better figure out a way to dig deep and hit them with speed, passing, and forechecking.

Team defense will mean the difference in this one. Whoever is in net won’t be able to afford letting in a soft goal.

I think I’ll be there today. We were going to go to the Jays game, but prices never really budged. Will be my first time at Scotiabank outside of an Alanis Morrisette concert. Sabres will need to win convincingly to beat her performance.

I finished off a 5 day Siemens SITRAIN course in Charleston, SC. I wanted to go to last nights game, unfortunately air travel being as it is, a roughly 4 hour total, including connector flight in Philly turned in to a 10 hr nightmare where I didn’t walk in the house until 7:20pm. I was supposed to land in Buffalo at roughly 2pm. What a disaster AA was, both on the trip down and back, and none of it air traffic controller related.

But I did manage to watch the game, what a pleasant surprise by the team. Today I will be fully invested in them, they’re drawing me back in and I like it.

How much are the hockey tickets in Toronto? If question is too intrusive, I understand.

This is a very important early season game.  Win this game, the team is over 500, winners of 5 of 6 with all 5 wins over divisional foes bringing their divisional record to 5-2.  A win also would be the team’s first road win of the season and ultimately validate everything they have done right recently.  
 

The team started 0-3 scoring only 2 goals allowing 10 for a -8 differential.  Since then they have scored 22 goals, allowing 13 for a +9 differential.  Talk about night and day.

Pretty reasonable today. We got a couple seats in the lower bowl for $70 before fees. I don’t remember seeing them this cheap in the past. The city is distracted by the Jays, nobody wants to see the wheels come off against the Sabres tonight.

I see 88 on vivid seats which is cheap for Toronto.

seems like a big reason the Sabres are better this year is because they are getting penalty kill saves and mid-late 3rd period saves at a better success rate than the last few years.  To boil us down, better goaltending. obvious but true

Or the defense in front of our goalies is WAY better. The goalies are making the initial save and for the most part the defense clears the puck. More shots against are low quality, too.

Moved to Charleston a couple years ago, no direct flights back home to Buffalo is extremely unfortunate

Benson returned to the lineup in game 4. He accelerated the tone Doan has brought and kicked in the scoring. It reset the first line and allowed everyone else to just do their job.

Since game 5 both Power and Samuelsson have been healthy for each game (they were both in the lineup for Boston). Toss in above average goaltending and stir.

With a loss tonight and wins by some of our competitors we can slip several places in the standings. Islanders and Flyers are playing each other and one will pass us. Toronto will pass us, Panthers could pass us, Senators could pass us. It really is another big game

I've been preaching this for years. Your goalie loses or wins you more games than any other player on the ice. KA is a moron.

His shot is heavy enough to beat a goalie on the bench. And he's had a few solid chances at rebounds in close.

If you recall, after 8 games last year, they were 0 for 22 on the PP; this year, they have 6 PP goals. Despite the criticism, their special teams is a big part of this year's start (even though, they also started 0-3 last year).

True to a point. Your defense will ruin good goaltending if it keeps giving up high danger chances. Watch any game last year's and tell me how many odd man rushes off turnovers you see. Then compare to now.

And as for who is or isn't a moron, finding good goaltending isn't like buying groceries. It's like complaining the Bills didn't just go out and get a Josh Allen earlier.
