GASabresIUFAN Posted May 25 Report Posted May 25 (edited) Tage ends the shutout and wins the gold for team USA in OT. First Worlds win for USA since the 1930's. Edited May 25 by GASabresIUFAN 3 Quote
thewookie1 Posted May 25 Report Posted May 25 Tage lit up a guy at the end of the 3rd too. Bulldozed him 1 Quote

Big Guava Posted May 25 Report Posted May 25 How does this even count when some of the best players in the world are still playing in the playoffs? Seems like this comes with an asterisk every year since the best players aren't always available 2 1 Quote

He’s one of their borderline top-6. He should probably be on the Olympic roster, but he’s not a bottom 6, so if they have someone on the wing who has an all-around game they’re gonna take them. Matthews is his USA lineup nemesis. Quote

It actually gives the smaller hockey countries an advantage. Why should it come with an asterisk? 1 1 1 Quote

Seems like this comes with an asterisk every year since the best players aren't always available It does come with an asterisk, but it's the same one that this tournament comes with EVERY year, so good on Thompson for playing really well against the best of the players that play in Europe through the winter and a handful of really good NHLers. There's a reason Europeans care way more about this tournament than Canadians and Americans care about it. 2 1 Quote
Scottysabres Posted May 26 Report Posted May 26 Good for Tage. Glad USA finally broke through. 2 Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted May 26 Author Report Posted May 26 It was also great for Tage to play in some meaningful games. 1 1 2 Quote
PerreaultForever Posted May 26 Report Posted May 26 Pity it wasn't another Canada U.S. mega game but Tage got a taste of winning that's cool. Maybe he brings an "I want more" attitude with him to camp and it rubs off on the others. Likely got him onto the Olympic team too. 1 2 Quote
Pimlach Posted May 26 Report Posted May 26 Best thing about this win for Tage is he can carry it forward to his team. He needs to start kicking some ***** and demanding more of his Sabres teammates. Second is recognition for the Olympics. 3 Quote
French Collection Posted May 26 Report Posted May 26 Congrats to USA hockey. This is not an easy tournament to win. Strength of roster changes a lot year to year for the countries with a lot of NHLers and some “weaker” nations believe they can win games. I like this move for TNT, showing he deserves consideration for the Olympics, showing up for his country after a tough season and coming through in the clutch. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted May 26 Report Posted May 26 I'll be honest.i had no clue this was a thing or even going on. Quote
Kristian Posted May 26 Report Posted May 26 Saw the game, and I have to say, if this is what playoff Tage looks like? I’m royally pissed we keep missing the party, because holy crap I’ve never seen him hustle and work like that for Buffalo. 2 Quote
