He’s been injured all season.  If you couldn’t tell, I don’t know what’s left to tell ya.

That we look so bad this year without him being close to himself (and that he's STILL our leading scorer despite that) sharpens his MVP case from last year in retrospect.

That's how good he is.

I'm confused, you said the replacement would "actually have a chance to improve the position". That implies that whoever it is would be able to add more to the team than Jack is.

I agree it shows how good he is that he's still one of our top contributors while hurt.

I can tell his game has been way off, but not that it was because of injury. If it is, then the organization could have avoided a lot of rumours about him by being more forthcoming about it. The secrecy just leads to suspicion.

NHL teams always tend to be extremely secretive about injuries.  I think it goes way back to being afraid that opponents would target players injuries.

That's true, but given the rumours about him wanting out they could have come out and said Eichel is nursing an upper body injury and left it at that.

Soooo, we won't see Jack until next year? And quite possibly on a different team.

It sounds like the rumors that Jack is seeking a second opinion are valid; that seemed to jibe with what Ralph said at the post game PC, along with "at least 1 week".

Why is Jack getting a second opinion?  Because the first opinion is telling him he needs surgery and that would mean shutting the season down, so that's a big deal.

So now Jack is flying to location X to see a specialist in the relevant area.  Assuming that doctor agrees with first doctor and recommends surgery, Jack's season will be done.

I'll be very surprised if that is not how this plays out.

And in the meantime, Ralph Krueger will remain HC of the team!

We need to inject a lot more comedy around here; all we are going to have left, fairly shortly, is our sense of humor.

But they usually don't outright say a player "is not injured" if they are

What an incredible, sobering point.

I didn't even think of that - I'm not saying it's likely, but there are plenty followed-minds who think the chances of Jack getting traded are about 50/50.

There's an actual, real possibility we've already seen his last game, his last goal as a Sabre.

I can't even remember them.

I think Jack will need to be shutdown for the season. No idea if he gets traded in the summer but I don't think he plays again this season.

Why risk future injuries.

Well, if he gets healthy, he should play. If he's hurt, he shouldn't. But I would never leave a guy sitting just because the season was "lost" - again, provided they were fully healthy.

Agree, Thorny, but something has been wrong for whole year.

Of course.

But there's still ~ 2 months left in the season. It's conceivable he could be good before then - getting the prolonged rehab period he never got because he got hurt right before the season started and it was a condensed camp.

Least, I'm hoping

Most of all I just hope regardless of injury length it's not something that has a high risk of reaggravation
