Eichel Out For The Foreseeable Future

Today Darren Dreger said that he talked with his Buffalo sources last night, and that as of that time, they did not have any "big concerns with Eichel's health" but they still supported the second opinion.

As far as he knows, the specialist (in Colorado?) still has not gotten the results into the Sabres; they are still waiting on that.

I find it interesting that the team wasn't overly concerned about Eichel's situation.

  • Brawndo changed the title to Eichel Out For The Foreseeable Future

If the 8 week number is about right, he would be back pretty darned close to the May 8th season finale anyway.

Just shut the season down already.

They probably have, and just don't want to say it.

Don't look for Jack to be playing any time soon.

Just now, Curt said:

Sounds like this could be the season for Eichel.  Maybe if he recovers faster than normal he gets in a few games at the end.

It’s crazy to think about, but there is a non-zero chance that we have already seen his last game as a Sabre.

THAT, would be the franchise low point.

How his time here ended

If Eichel's terrible performance this year has been due to a broken spirit (along with a minor injury) as I have said, and assuming we retain Ralph to the end of the year with predictable results...

...I think this coming off-season is when it all blows up with Eichel, if it is going to.

I.E., public demands to be traded, etc.

If we make it through this offseason and none of that occurs, it probably won't.

Reinhart or Eichel (or both) leaving this team is coming.  I think it will be Reinhart and it might be as soon as the trade deadline this year.  If not, this offseason.

Either way, yes, that will definitely be a lower point than right now.

It can get a lot lower, actually!

And yet this remains the all-time franchise low spot IMO, now.

I would think that Eichel probably waits one more year, and until after his NMC kicks in before he would actually demand a trade.  Doesn’t mean he won’t be traded though.

Reinhart could also definitely get traded, especially if he seems intent on going to arbitration and walking to UFA after next season.

These guys leaving in such a way would certainly be a low point for the franchise, but honestly I’m not sure it can actually get much lower than it is right now. It could also be something of a new beginning, bringing forth the new hope that comes with it.

Zero chance I'm feeling "hope" the day we lose Eichel and Reinhart.

Grudging acceptance and the continued desire to see it through? Yes.  No chance, for me, that the franchise deserves or warrants any kind of hope at this time, and should that day come

Jack needs to get himself right from the neck up both physically and mentally.  Next coach needs to reduce his responsibility and just get him and the team to play hockey.  Reminds me of Stamkos pulled leadership tag and he blossomed.  Need to find a guy though to take his place and push this team.
