In The Buff 260
My thoughts on the advertising are at least its subtle & the ad isnt like what you see overseas where the ad is placed right smack on their forehead. This is probably as good as it could get imo
Doohickie 3,106
You guys who don't like the ads: This is one way for the team to bring in funds while the fans are out. This will help keep hockey alive in Buffalo and a lot of other cities.
dudacek 6,325
I don't know the particulars as to this deal, but Lebrun was talking about the helmet ads on Vancouver radio yesterday. He said a number of teams aren't making new money off the helmet ads, they are using them as a way to thank sponsors for staying loyal. Basically, "we haven't been doing as good a job rewarding you with exposure since COVID and here is one way we can make it up to you." Given that it's Keybank and Roswell Park, I'd suggest that is probably what's going on here.

Wouldn't be surprised if Labatts gets some extra love throughout the broadcasts as well. Won't be surprised if the decals stick around even after fans are let back in the barns. Nascar, here we come. I-90 W 166
Don’t like it but at least this has synergy. Could have been much worse.
IKnowPhysics 951
Roswell Park is fine. KeyBank is meh. At least it's not VeinsVeinsVeins.com, Delaware North, or Barnes on one side/Cellino on the other. Wouldn't be mad at Blue (if alcohol is even allowed), Sahlens, Mighty Taco, or PizzaLogs though. #freejame 857
Like a lot of others have said—if it’s going to happen better it be Roswell than someone else. I’d prefer Labatt’s over Key Bank, but at the end of the day I don’t actually care past the tiny part of me that died.

BfloSabresFan 2
It is what it is...corporate sponsors to keep teams and the league afloat.

Pimlach 2,272
I don’t mind Roswell on there. I hope this ad thing doesn’t expand like in Europe, but I’ll bet it does.

Doohickie 3,106
I look at it this way: When advertising came to the rinks on the boards I was upset about it. After a season or two it was, *yawn*, normal. The same will happen with ads on the helmets and jerseys. I can see where the jerseys are a bigger deal because fans don't want to wear a jersey filled with ads but even that will seem normal after a few years. Look at the Euro soccer jerseys.... the sponsors are part of the deal. Eh.
SHAAAUGHT!!! 99
It blows my mind that a cancer research organization has to rely on advertising to ensure continued funding, instead of using those advertising dollars to do more research or treating patients. And now I have to join the masses and ignore this truth to fully enjoy the 2021 version of the Sabres. Well played economic overlords. Well played...

Norcal 233
Doesn't seem so bad. In world juniors the front helmet add was some kind of sticker. I kept seeing guys pushing it down on the edges. That, did seem bad.
