Work ethic, shame , fear of losing ice time.  Any of those work for me.

Curtis gives 100% each shift. And he gets a big goal to get team back into it and his reward is the least amount of ice for any forward?

Lazar was taking faceoffs, but yes... I'd rather see his ice time increase than Sheary.

I could make 300 chocolate cakes in a year with a couple assistants. You could make one by yourself in the same time period. Doesn’t necessarily mean I’m better at making chocolate cakes than you.

That's...that's not the same thing. Eichel has played signficisnt minutes with Evander Kane, Jeff Skinner, and Sam Reinhart. None of them are as good as Draisaitl, but it's hardly a collection of scrubs.

Nor did I.  I guess I'm in the "next man up" mentality.  BTW, we give JBOT a lot of crap, deservedly so, but Lazar was a stellar move that got barely a notice in the off season.

Agree with both of these....something I like about Lazar is the fact that he's about 6' tall and nearly 210 lbs.  Not the tallest guy for sure, but he has enough weight and strength to win battles.  Not too many guys have the same body type and I think we need more "thick" bodies on this team!

They’re not TLC’s version of scrubs, but as you said, none are Leon D’s level either.

I just don’t see McJesus being clear and above the talent level of Jack. Yes, he’s dominant, but he also carried a lot of well deserved hype into the league. Jack is equally as dominant, IMO. It would be interesting to see what Jacks stats would be with Leon over the same course of time, as McD with Samson.

That WAS sick.  And then pretending he'd hurt himself to get the whistle was shameful.

Ah. I couldn't figure out why the whistle went.

I'm not an advanced stats junkie but from what I've read, Jack's (and Matthews') defensive numbers are much better this season than both McDavid's and Draisaitl's. Jack is still improving his 2 way game but he's improved substantially on the defensive side of things especially back checking, I think he's a better defensive player than McDavid right now, so I don't agree he's better than Jack in every way at all. Though obviously McDavid is in fact the best player in the league overall.

- - -

If Jack continues separating himself from Connor at that end of the ice, and keeping it pretty close offensively (like he is this year), I can't rule out a situation where (not that it really means anything, especially in a sport like hockey) Jack is the better player "head to head" between the two. Bigger, stronger. Similar to what Gretzky said about Lemieux.

I think it can fairly be argued that Jack is currently better than McDavid defensively. But I didn't take that into account with my dominance comment because he's still merely just okay defensively. Nobody is mistaking Eichel for a prime Kopitar.

Homer works at a nuclear power plant, so he might be thinking of a different kind of cake.

He is carving out a role with Ralph.  There are players that understand what RK is asking and Lazar is one of them.

That's fair. Was just picking out your more dominant in EVERY way comment which, while Eichel is only marginally better currently than McDavid there, that fact is still quite a ways away from McDavid being MORE dominant than Eichel defensively, an entire "half" of the ice.

I’m curious what they are being asked to do on the PP, and if any of them understand, or if it’s just not being asked properly.

IMHO, this is kind of like trying to say back in 2010 that Datsyuk (or Malkin or Ovechkin or ...) was equally as dominant as Crosby.  All those guys were excellent players that did dominate and will all end up in the HHoF.  But Crosby was THE best of his generation.  MacKinnon and Eichel and even the guy w/ the porn 'stache in Loafland are dominant.  But none have the same talent level as 97.

I could watch the Eichel end-to-end that drew the penalty on loop without sleep until work tomorrow. Just blows the doors off the guy from behind the net. So beautiful.

What looked certain to be an absolute cluster of a clunker turned into a terrific game to attend.  From 314, Conor Sheary looked like he was busting his tail all night.  If they start to play 60 minutes like the last 21:10 minutes tonight, I’ll feel like they still care.

You are just saying that Eichel has a better shot.  This is most likely true.  However, over their careers, McDavid has scored more goals.  He is better at scoring goals.  He is a better goal scorer.

What do words even mean!

No way.  Over the past 40? Ok, maybe Jack is right there with McDavid.

But over their careers?  It’s not even close.

Jack has averaged .39 goals per game since being drafted. McDavid has averaged .46. Jack has a better shot, but that doesn't make him a better goal scorer.

McD has Dreisadel to work with, Eichel has to generate most of his goals on his own.

McD does it with his speed, but Jack has better hands.

No.  I disagree completely.  McDavid has better hands.

Good question.  RK needs to fix the PP or hire someone who can.

I disagree, Datsyuk in his prime was God... in many ways way better than Crosby defensively and offensively.  Crosby is special and v the other guys sure... but that Detroit team  had so much talent and Pavel was so modest and quiet he almost got overlooked, but watch his highlights they were/are insane and he brought that almost every game.
