Weave
Rick can say whatever he wants. He's earned every respect possible. Is it wrong that he has a grandfatherly quality to me? At this stage in his career/life I find his gaffs quaint. We'll talk fondly of them when he's no longer able to do these games.
inkman
Dude, he played nine games in 11-12. Let it go!If RJ can have his Yeichel, then I can have my Sahara!! BTW, someone totally got to him about Yeichel. He was flat out defiant. I do admire him for his old man curmudgeonness.
Wyldnwoody44
He is going with it, plain and simple. "now that's a yeichel" a noun, an adjective.... He took it up a notch and it ls here to stay. What a shot tho?!??
WanderingEye
I thought it was the worst and most forced Yeichel attempt yet, but he's so authoritative with it now that he's obviously noticed some criticism/somebody told him it was really bad so he's doubling down on (I really wish he wouldn't). Huckleberry
"Now that's a Yeichel?" You gotta be friggin' kidding me. Come on Rick. sounds so forced coming out of him. jackal would have been more natural :p Edited November 28, 2015 by Huckleberry
PASabreFan
Fast forward four years from next June. The KeyBank Arena crowd stands as one as the Conn Smythe Trophy is delicately placed on the table. Then the chant begins. YEI-CHEL! YEI-CHEL! YEI-CHEL! YEI-CHEL! YEI-CHEL! YEI-CHEL! YEI-CHEL! woods-racer
I can't even begin to imagine the amount of alcohol I'd have to consume for this to happen. Well you better start consuming because the Sam/Jack Conn Smythe Trophy fest doesn't happen without large amounts of alcohol being consumed by you, and we are all counting on you! Hoss
RJ is one of my biggest idols... If not the biggest... No chance I'm letting him off the hook on this though. The call is trash and has gotten to the point where I lose some excitement when he makes the call.

The call is trash and has gotten to the point where I lose some excitement when he makes the call. He's recovering from cancer, getting older, his voice can't hit the same reflection everyone came to know and love. This is as much excitement as he can get in his voice nowadays, maybe the Y gives him a "boost" so to speak?

The call is trash and has gotten to the point where I lose some excitement when he makes the call. Whoever is calling the goal could shout out "popeye's chicken is fricken' awesome!" after an Eichel goal and it wouldn't affect my enthusiasm. It's a Sabres/Eichel goal!! The call is always secondary. Sure great calls can add to it and make goals even better, but they can't take away from the base excitement, for me. That Aud Smell
Eye-Yei-Yeichel! wouldn't be half bad. I like that. And I'm fine with the goal call. (In a whaddayagonnado sort of way.) Agreed that he's heard the rumblings, and that his latest calls were defiant.
