Gretzky and McDavid: Comparison Debate

Gretzky was great. He would not score in todays NHL at 50% more than the next guy. The talent gap closed so the top players are closer.  Also the game is played differently. McDavid could be the Gretzky player of his era or the Crosby if you will.

 

What's jack eichel comparable too.

Jack compares to a healthy motivated Super Mario, long stick powerful shoulders and edge speed. In todays game would take a healthy Mario over Gretsky, but the key is gretsky knew how to avoid hits, making his hockey life longer. McDavid, Eichel and Crosby all like to mix it up so we will see health wise. Cindy has already paid some price forit with his concussions.

I really wish I could go to the scrimmage.  I'm going through a bit of a hockey withdrawal right now.  That and I kind of like to see how some of the college kids stack up against the other prospects.  And I don't mean guys like Eichel or even Fasching, I mean the lower tier guys who are a bit off the radar.  I like to see how these guys will wind up impacting their college teams.

My take as well. Everything about Eichel's game, right down to the longer stick, has reminded me of Mario's game since the prospects game last year. Very deceptive speed like Lemieux as well.
