GMTM has really put an emphasis on athletes.

I suppose with the idea if they have the raw material they can develop it

With that in mind - watch for Jordan Kyrou of the Sarnia Sting in the second round for the Sabres.

Currently ranked 34th by Central Scouting (North American Skaters).

He finished first in the "on-ice" testing at the BMO CHL Prospects game.

I've seen at least 10 Sting games this year (1 live) and he always seems to stand out.

Scoring 4 goals last night for Team Canada in the World Under 18's doesn't hurt either.

Wrong thread but fit well with last post.

How many draft picks do we have this year in early rounds?

You are in the wrong thread, that said, http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/14787151/picks-team-2016-nhl-draft

The ESPN chart isn't very accurate, for instance it doesn't mention that the Anaheim 3rd round pick can become a second.  Wikipedias page on the 2016 draft has all the horrible detail.

Sabres have three picks in the third round, plus an extra pick that will be in the second or third round depending on how far Anaheim goes with McGinn.  There's also an extra pick in the fifth and in the seventh.

That's a great chart, outside of the fact that it doesn't account for conditions.

Actually, if it ends up being a second round pick from Anaheim, that will be in 2017.

Nice read on the Excel testing combine.  Chychrun putting up a good showing is encouraging!  And I love the inclusion of options for the second round and on!

Truth be told, I'd really like to see him land in Buffalo, though if he falls all the way to 8, not sure I want them to get him. /Cooper / Grigorenko

Nice write up on Austin from Amerks.com , it would be great if he develops on the farm, he's got ideal size and is an LD.

I read that same piece. I was happy for him when they gave him the A. I love watching these guys develop(or flop). That's one of the reasons I like AHL so much. I haven't seen many 7th rounders come as far in only two years as he has. I think he is as able to handle the NHL as Pysyk or McCabe. That doesn't mean I think he's ready. I think the key to the Sabres future lies in these developmental guys. Cheap to buy and cheap to keep.

Yeah I think his ceiling is Mike Weber. Just not terribly skilled. Love his heart and his attitude.

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm not really sure how to embed tweets, but it looks like we locked up our last 2014 pick before he went back into the draft

I have heard from a couple of sources Vaclav Karabacek has indeed signed his ELC with the #Sabres. @generalfanager has contract details.
