LGR4GM
Buffalo Sabres @BuffaloSabres 1m 1 minute agoToronto, Ontario Murray: We're trying to get better down the road. jad1
i think it is much more likely that Edm makes a trade with the Yotes instead of us. Not sure if Edmonton wants the third pick. Their fans would revolt if they didn't get McDavid or Eichel.
TrueBlueGED
McDavid seemed thrilled..... This may be callous, but I don't care. I'm really just thrilled it wasn't Toronto or Arizona...or any of the good teams who have recent Cups.

eman
By the way, all of those out there touting the signing of Mike Babcock, do you truly believe he is coming now? Really really believe it? I do not think so. And yes, McDavid will sign with Edmonton as they also have a youthful club. He could very well be the next Gretzky. Let the comparisons between McDavid and Eichel start now. The coach Buffalo hires this season will be ever so important now. If it is Luke Richardson, hope he brings that Binghampton magic with him. No way Edmonton deals the McDavid pick either. That is guaranteed ticket sales and in the seats. As for a goaltender, I think if Edmonton shores up the rest of their game, their goaltending is decent. Plenty goalies out there, ask the Sabres! wjag
Sorry, but the goal was McDavid. Eichel is just a consolation prize. Hey that's my line.. At least give me credit for it ... :P
North Buffalo
Sabres need more than either Eichel or McDavid in a draft this deep, one player doesn't improve scoring that much except if he is Taresenko. And now Buff needs a coach not named Murray....

I want him to think about how awful its going to be every night before he goes to bed.
Fire Eater
Sorry, but the goal was McDavid. Eichel is just a consolation prize. With an 80% chance we wouldn't get him. The goal was McDavid OR Eichel. McEichel. Get it?
JJFIVEOH
So does this mean the Oilers just got their $4.7 million back from the Otters since they can't pay their loans back because they filed bankruptcy last week?
wjag
My guess is a few of those prior year Edmonton number 1 picks might become available on draft day.

Doohickie
I could see the Oilers playing this angle. I could also see Murray playing ball with them. Although the GM said he couldn't see himself trading out of this position, which is why i'm thinking they just take Eichel since admitting of not trading the pick takes out the drama for Buffalo He won't trade for McDavid, he'll trade for RNH. They need Defense, we got Defense. Who do you let go for Nugent Hopkins? I think they might trade anyone but Risto. I don't doubt Arizona wants to make that trade, but not sure they have anything Edmonton wants.

Robviously
Sorry, but the goal was McDavid. Eichel is just a consolation prize. Nope. The goal was McEichel. We literally created a term to convey that getting either one of those guys was the goal.
TrueBlueGED
Everyone on Twitter is assuming the NHL is mad at this. This actually makes me kind of happy, because the NHL deserves it for this dumb draft system.
SabresBillsFan
Really Edmonton of all teams. A team that has mis-managed team in the league. This looks like the Cavs with all those lottery wins.

bunomatic
Let's hear it for small markets. Welcome to Buffalo, Jack. I'm with this sentiment. Don't lament the loss of McDavid, welcome Jack into the family and look forward. I feel great that we have an opportunity to draft Jack Eichel. This kid will help transform this franchise and will help make every other prospect we have better.
Weave
Welcome to the return of the Oilers/Flames rivalry! Good point. And like before, EDM will have the advantage in top line talent. Should make for some fun hockey.

LGR4GM
You know ironically tankin may become more prevalent. Teams will deliberately suck for multiple years because they won't get better after one year.
