What would you do with Samson Reinhart?

  1. 1. From what you know now, would you

    • Keep him with the Sabres no matter what. He is the 2nd overall pick he belongs here.
      2
    • Keep him with the Sabres as long as he doesn't look totally out of place.
      8
    • Keep him with the Sabres only if it is clear is he is one of the best 6 forwards RIGHT NOW.

    • Send him to Juniors no matter what. The team doesn't need him now, and he will be better in the long run with a year in Juniors to get stronger and play top minutes every game.

I mentioned what I would do on other threads. I would do exactly with Reinhart as Tampa did with Droiun. Another year of Reinhart getting stronger in junior and playing for team canada at world juniors would be good for him. No need to rush him unless he stands out like Myers did years ago. Complete the tank please.

The more I think about it, the more I am agreeing with you. Even if he is one of the 'top 6' forwards on this team right now (which I don't know if he has much of a chance to do that), do you really need him here? Some will say he won't get better in Junior anymore, but I disagree with that. If he goes back to Junior, he will do so after a FULL TRAINING camp with the Sabres, he will know a LOT better what he will need to improve on to be a player with the Sabres. I'm sure he will go back to Junior with a workout plan and a "skills improvement plan" generated by the Sabres. Basically, if he goes back to Juniors, he should have a much more productive year preparing for the NHL than last year because the Sabres will be bringing him along all the way.

I guess unless he looks like he will put in 25+ goals (which even McKinnon didn't do), I'd probably want him back in Juniors after his 9 game exposure to the NHL.

I'd tie him to the bed with silk scarves, then drizzle chocolate syrup over his chest, and top it off with whipped cream, and then....

....oh wait, this isn't gay porn fan fiction?

Oh my, the things you learn on a Sunday morning,,.

He should stay in the Juniors. A year of losing could damage his psyche.

I expect Reinhart is a 80% lock to go back to juniors unless they decide he is okay to play protected minutes without hurting his development.

I would have to guess the exact opposite based to tm's comments last season about there not being much left for him to learn in juniors. Although I want what you are saying, I think this thing is sam's to lose.

I think I remember those comments (or at least reading someone reference them on here), but then there we also comments either from Murray or Nolan that when the season DOES start, it is likely he'd be 'protected' a bit (meaning maybe a day off on road games where you can't get the matchups you want, and in home games only being played in certain situations.)

As I said in a previous post, I am in a way hoping he goes back to Junior....as it will be his first time playing in junior after a 'taste' of NHL camp and real NHL competition. But if he stays, I wonder if the fans are going to be prepared for him to get some nights off, and when he does play to only be getting 10 minutes of ice time a game, and sometimes playing in the 3rd period, and other time be glued to the bench by Nolan in tight games in the third until he GRADUALLY gets the chance to be put it.

Remember, Girgensons last year seemed really ready for the NHL, yet he got very little, if any, Powerplay time the entire year (even spot duty on the 2nd unit, it didn't happen)

Pictures, or it didn't happen.

Of course, those pics had better be *suitable for framing*. Then PA and I would be rich. TP rich!!

And PA, since you are a fan of a certain TV show of a bygone era you had better get the reference.

Keep him with the Sabres no matter what? Juniors no matter what?

Personally, I'd like to see him with the Sabres only if it is CLEAR he is ready now, and a top six guy right now.

Completely agree. We do not need another Grigs situation. I wish he were able to play in Roch. I don't think his game could grow much playing in the minors.

On the PP you want finishers and puck movers. I don't think he's either of those things.

In the pp you also want the guys who are strong on the puck. You lose the puck, you lose 15-20 seconds. Also, check out the Detroit highlights from the end of last season. He can move the puck.
