Complaint Thursdays

Some changes going on at work, know I should be happy I still have a job but it's not easy. Re-org'd, got a new boss, changed my job and responsibilites, so far the new job outright looks like he thinks and treats me like I am his Beyotch. NICE. I never expected to become that dreaded disgruntled employee but unfortunately I fear I'm there. :wallbash: Know my options just really liked what I was doing before not so much now.

I know in the past I've complained about perfectly healthy people who use the handicap button that automatically opens doors. Well, last week I finally found proof for why these people suck. As I was leaving work one day, I notice a woman on my floor who is in a wheel chair sitting in front of one of the doors, not doing anything. The button wasn't working thanks to all the lazy idiots who use it when they don't have to. So this woman was stuck at the door, not able to get out until someone else came by. It was pretty late and not many people were in the building, so she could very easily have been stuck there for a while.

And then there's the city of Boston, or really, the whole state of Massachusetts. There was a general panic over the last two days because of that storm that was moving across the state. They shut just about everything down a day in advance. What was the grand total for the snowfall? Less than an inch. The entire city was crippled by a less than an inch of snow! Don't get me wrong, I had no problem leaving work early, but my god are they retarded. With all these budget issues nationwide, I can't imagine the amount of money that was thrown away yesterday.

I'm in the same boat. I actually left my current employer for a job I thought would be doing exactly what I wanted (only to find out it sucked something awful). I was lucky enough to be able to come back and I've been here almost 3 years, but the regime has changed, people are only out for their own agendas, and the work has lessened. Top it off with a boss who complains about everything and my morale isn't exactly high. I realize it's good to have a job these days, but it still isn't good to not look forward to the work day.

Happens all the time in my office. I don't (and never will) understand the need to use it when you don't need to. I'd like to see what happens when it doesn't work for a guy who doesn't need it. Will he stand outside the men's room wondering how to get in?

To be fair, every meteorologist in the Albany area was predicting 3-5 inches....probably more in Boston, right? All four major networks were eating some serious crow last night. In fact, many of the school districts just south of here into the Catskills had already closed school the night before anticipating close to a foot.

That said, Boston is in the northeast. I can maybe see people in Virginia & North Carolina doing this, but Boston should be able to handle a foot of snow. It's as if everyone needed to use the "snow days" they had budgeted for.

6-8 inches was the last figure I heard. Hell, yesterday morning the weather report I watched was saying that the storm might shift north a bit and hit us even harder. Even after it was pretty clear that the storm was going to miss, places were still closing. It's one of the strangest things I've ever seen. Even when the predictions were pretty tame, the entire city was losing it's mind. They must all be driving toyotas or something.

Did you stick around to see who finally helped her? ;)

Maryland legislators and DC officials asking for a federal disaster declaration. http://insidecharmcity.com/2010/01/21/team-maryland-urges-support-for-disaster-declaration-for-blizzard/

Seriously? W. T. F.

It's easy: they have better economies because they have lower taxes because they don't have to plan for this stuff because we all foot the bill because because because.

My laptop slid off of my desk, which it normally would have survived. But the ethernet cable was plugged in and it landed perfectly perpendicular to the ground, driving the connector into the motherboard and cracking it. Dead.

I really hate spending a lot of money only to get something to work the way it did before I spent that money.

I shouldn't complain, because it's the little guy's birthday and we had a fun time at Chuck E Cheese (all 3 1/2 hours of it) but I had to comment on these two things.

We are slowly seeing a grand reorganization at my company, and upper management recently entered in a partnership with a local health care provider that has completely blown up in our faces. We have too many people coming in through this program and not enough capacity to deliver on the promises of this partnership, but now the geniuses who promised them the moon are going on the attack, saying that the individual branches are not on board and are fighting headquarters. So they decided that threatening us with our jobs if we don't make this work was the right way to go, and they even said "even the new people will be gone." I've only been on in this position for three months, and the new program that overwhelmed us was rolled out 6 weeks into my tenure. Not a huge fan of being threatened with my job after three months, especially when I am being asked to hit a moving target and not given the resources or support I need.

Our local guys did the same thing. Warned for three or four days about how much snow was coming, this was as bad as last week, yada yada yada. The day of the storm comes, places had shut down in advance, and the system shifted a little, meaning we were going to get a fraction of what was forecast. Rather than eat crow, the one local weatherguy decided that mocking the viewers was the way to go - said something along the lines of "those of you who were hoping for a lot of snow tonight are going to be disappointed." Hey a#$^$#!e - YOU were the one who whipped everyone up into a frenzy.

Then of course the next day we got about 4-5", nothing major, but a lot of blowing snow and higher winds, but after the weather people came back and basically said "nothing major coming" I think everyone let down their guard, and that included the snow removal. Roads were awful all day.

Don't worry.....with a reasonable co-pay, Viagra only runs you about $20 a month.

... but not until I meet my deductable.

Which reminds me. I now pay three and a half times what I used to pay for health insurance. Good thing keeping it in the hands of private companies has kept the cost down.[/sarc]

Might ignite a firestorm, but here goes...the use of the word "abortion" to describe anything other than the medical procedure. I know there are other definitions (including "monstrosity") but I feel that, with the the main definition being such an emotionally-charged topic, it's best to leave that term where it belongs and use another term.

(Note: I am not singling anyone out - I have seen this term used here, on TSW and and a couple other boards and have even heard it used in conversation, and it always touches a nerve.)

got to wonder to people think that turn signal stick in car just a ornament. At least in my area of Ontario, amazing how few actually click their turn signals. A person these days driving needs give more space than ever between vehicles. These folks make me say so many bad words.... and am I ever angry at the time and how it changes. Was once a time when if Canadian Hockey team lost it would have been a embarrassment , these days they just one of a number of teams with some fine players with a equal shot at winning, they could just as easily not medal at win any. Truly hockey a game of the world now with many nations having fine players. Not a bad thing though... but humbling.

since there's only 3 men in our company, we have one men's bathroom in our office. problem is, my boss clogs the toilet on a daily basis. so for the last year and a half, whenever i have to use the bathroom, rain or shine, i walk down the street to a gas station for fear of having the toilet back up and shoot turd water at me. this is not an unfounded fear, as it happened to one of our interns, and then he, the intern, was told to clean it up.

Time to invest in a plunger and some pre-emptive plunging..
