Complaint Thursdays

People at work that just talk and talk and talk and talk and talk about what they are doing, but are never actually doing anything. Then they get overtime to finish what they should have been doing all day, or worse make me stay late to help.

I'm out of beer.

My crazy kid is home all week.

My furnace needs repair. It only sorta works.

My laptop needs repair. It doesn't work at all.

All that,.. and that soul withering thing as well.

Might ignite a firestorm, but here goes...the use of the word "abortion" to describe anything other than the medical procedure. I know there are other definitions (including "monstrosity") but I feel that, with the the main definition being such an emotionally-charged topic, it's best to leave that term where it belongs and use another term.

(Note: I am not singling anyone out - I have seen this term used here, on TSW and and a couple other boards and have even heard it used in conversation, and it always touches a nerve.)

May I suggest the alternative word from "Knocked Up?" ("shma-shmor-tion")

I ordered a shirt from the MLB shop. It get sent out promptly via UPS basic. On the 16th, it shows "Out for delivery" to my house. It still hasn't arrived. I call UPS, they tell me that there is no way to find out where the package actually is, and that I have to call MLB Shop for them to open a claim.

I call MLB shop, they won't open a claim for 14 days. Come to find out from them, UPS basic is actually a service in which UPS delivers my package to the post office, who then has to deliver it to me, which is why UPS is basically no help.

I don't get it. I work for a trucking company, and deal with drivers day in, day out. We have GPS and tracking on every truck. Yet UPS claims there is absolutely no way to get in touch with the local facility or the route driver to find out where the package is.

LMAO. :w00t: Sorry but that's so honest, real and funny that it made my morning.

Also lot's of room for side comments like "aren't almost all Bosses full of Shaught!" I now know yours is !

if only you knew the guy. mid 50's, french, chain smoker. he recently offered a job to one of our former interns (not the one who had to clean up "the great toilet explosion of 2009"), and she turned him down. he wanted her to commit to working at the company for at least a year and half, at a salary of $20K, with a $2K bonus at the completion of 18 months. for various reasons she wasn't interested, and he proceeded to berate her, telling her she had "no ambition in life" and she'd "never amount to anything more than a waitress." so he ended up "hiring" his recent college grad son who was released from a mental institution a little over a month ago.

It really seems like UPS can't be bothered with things like this. I had a hockey jersey delievered one time with a similar outcome. They don't bother looking into in, instead forcing the seller to deal with it. In my case, it turned out that they did deliver it, but for some reason let some random person sign for it. The name looked nothing like mine and it wasn't someone who lived in my building. After a little while, I got my money back, but it was a hassle. I just hope it wasn't the company that wound up on the hook for the money since it was an obvious UPS screwup. Then again, I'm sure they have crazy amounts of insurance against situations like this.

Cell phones. The greatest pain in the ass invention of all time. Especially when it comes time to pick out a phone.

So my parents rarely use their cell phones so they quit Verizon and we're adding them on our ATT plan for 10 bucks (obvious reasons they need one). But now I'm put in charge of getting them some "free or free after rebate" phones that:

1) Have big buttons

2) Could be used by someone who can dial and send, that's it.

3) don't dial accidentally

4) you get the idea

I go to the mall store, guy tells me this phone and that phone and this one are all free. Nice phones.

I go to the ATT store. Guy tells me nope, not free, not free, not free. $50 and you need to activate a data plan $20/mth. Really? Like my parents text? They can barely read the screen.

So now I'm on ATT online looking at flip phone this, upgrade that, sucking all my day, and soul, away.

Check out amazon wireless they have some great deals on phones but may not have the linkage to the actual carier's yet but you can do that independant of the phone purchase.

So you work with a big dookie blasting frenchie and his crazy son? Still sounds better than the jamokes I work with.

He offered $20K? In Boston? She'd be better off at McDonalds.

Wow no thanks. I saw enough of her in ten minutes last night to last me a thousand lifetimes. She came across exactly like the emotional trainwreck of a woman I try to stay far away from.

With comments like that, I'm guessing you don't have too much trouble keeping them away from you. ;)

The problem lies with the fact that UPS can't track the package through USPS. I hate when I'm getting something through USPS - even with one of their tracking numbers, you still can't track anything.

First off all, Ass, she went through a lot with that injury of hers and she won Gold. It's a GREAT moment for her. Then, you have to consider this: SI

Yay Lindsey!

Oh, and my complaint is that I will most likely be unemployed after next Friday for the first time since I was 18 years old. Could be time to put the GI Bill to work and go to college for a year or two.....

People who use apostrophe's incorrectly. My dad used to put apostrophes and quotes on all his label's in both of the garage's. I always thought that it was a bad use of our Marks-A-Lot marker's.

See this quote by Duds for an example of what reminded me of this (and see my tongue-in-cheek apostrophes above...):

Dudley!

Just messin' Duds!

My complaint? One of the major organizations to head this once great country toward becoming a train wreck: the ACLU. It is just completely mind-numbing that these crackpot leftist fundamentalists would support and defend the "right" of truly sin-sick and twisted individuals to possess and distribute child pornography.

Then again, since one of its founders, Roger Baldwin, was a died-in-the-wool Communist, nothing should surprise me coming from that gang of "useful idiots".

Either no politics at all, or respectful discussion only. Whichever way you lean, promoting kiddie porn has to be considered a nutjob agenda.
