  1. We were in Rochester this past weekend for the Rochester Presidential Power Play hockey tourney at Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex. Pretty much our entire association was there - six teams, 70+ players - and most staying at he same hotel in Brighton. A stomach bug tore through our hotel - my wife got it while we were there, my son and I both started showing signs of it Sunday to Monday, and Monday night, after getting back to Ohio, he and I both got sick. Two days of running to the bathroom, kid had to go to Express Care because he wouldn't stop vomiting and was in danger of dehydration (Zofran finally stopped that) and I had to go to Express Care yesterday to get a doctor's note for work. Still nauseous, still afraid to put anything solid on our stomachs. So we put it out on Facebook and find out that a bunch of kids throughout our association - who were at the tourney - are all sick. Association ends up cancelling practices and sending out emails telling parents to keep kids home if sick. All with playoffs starting this weekend. Just a long, ugly, painful weekend/week.
  2. The kid has a tourney in Niagara Falls this weekend, and we're trying to figure out the timing of the storm and praying we don't have another 7+ hour trip like Christmas Day.
  3. Really disappointing this time around. We were in attendance for USA-Denmark. It was shockingly empty.
  4. Thankfully they are supposed to move them off NYE, starting in 2018. As a card-carrying member of the "love watching sad Urban get destroyed" club, I enjoyed the beating Clemson put on OSU (not to mention being stuck in Buckeye territory). That being said, the two other "irrelevant" NY6 games - FSU-Michigan and USC-Penn State - were much better games and more entertaining than the CFB semifinals.
  5. I don't get to see him much - lack of national games, and I don't have center ice package - but when I see him and the goals he allows I feel like he's a big body who plays "small".
  6. Hey everyone - I'm looking for a cheap replica Amerks jersey for my kid to use as a practice jersey during his goalie clinics and practices. Really looking for a royal blue jersey, silkscreened logo, blank on back, in size men's small or medium. Not looking to break the bank - the cheapest I've seen is around $50 and that's more than I want to pay for something he's going to wear for practices. Hoping someone's got an old one from a stadium giveaway or something their kid has outgrown, etc. - preferably in the $25-30 range. Thanks in advance!
  7. Thanks. Definitely proud. I never played ice growing up, so to watch what he can do at a young age impresses the hell out of me. He's got that mentality that he wants to stop every puck and doesn't like giving up goals. I was so happy to see him get his first SO last week. Going back to last year he's had four shutouts lost in the final three minutes of the game. Two were fluke goals going in off his teammates' skates or sticks. He was getting a little frustrated lol Helmet was a gift from grandma last Christmas. Being a Star Wars geek I was stoked to see it - this is the Boba Fett design. I tried to talk him into Vader but no dice. Can't complain about Fett tho.
  8. It is the kid. He switched to goalie last year and split the season with another kid - alternating games in net and on defense. He's moved up to Squirt early and is playing full-time between the pipes. He got his first ever shutout last weekend then got another on Saturday in a 3v3 cross-ice tourney.
  9. Very true. I stopped doing that when a guy karate kicked me in the torso and my chest started filling with blood, tho.
  10. Nedeljkovic is from here in Parma, OH. He started in the same association my kid plays at and moved on to the Barons AAA team. My kid goes to the same goalie coach he did. Just a little digression from the convo. Go USA.
  11. My two cents...I've been to Columbus, Carolina and Tampa (although those were a while back and/or special circumstances - ECF Game 6 vs Canes, and in 2005 for the Lightning following a job fair at the arena). I've been to Columbus a few times - once for Sabres game and a couple other teams. Ironically (or not) the Sabres game had the best atmosphere, because there were so many Sabres fans there. Other than that the Columbus atmosphere was fun and better than Buffalo, but nothing special or over-the-top that puts Buffalo to shame. I agree about pricing out the "average" fans, and we're starting to see that here in Cleveland with the Lake Erie Monsters. Ticket prices have gone up slightly, some of the special ticket and food/concessions offers have gone away or gone up, and the benefits have been pushed upwards into higher STH packages. And with the cost of tickets in Buffalo, the only way we can afford a game (when we're in town) is through the secondary market.
  12. Same here. Had an issue last night with the Wifi adapter not working. Had to disable then re-enable. There's a diagnostic tool to fix the issue that I'm going to try tonight for a "permanent" fix.
  13. Not cool with FJax getting cut and keeping Bryce "and the ball comes loose!!" Brown. Lynch, Spiller, McGahee....don't worry about the lines. Or QB. Keep grabbing RBs in round 1. Same here.
  14. Agreed. I'm not excited about another version of Trent Edwards. I was really impressed with him yesterday. Looked totally different than what we've seen in the past. Yep. Not Snyder!
  15. It would appear that ownership is the only person left in RGIII's corner at this point. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/25285088/report-redskins-front-office-coaches-want-to-move-on-from-rg3
  16. Thank you sir. Yeah, it's been a while. Yes, the not-so-little guy is a goalie now. He started jumping between the pipes during scrimmages and fell in love with it. He also fell out of love with being a skater after a rough game where he was targeted (for lack of a better term) by a player on the opposing team. He stood up for himself but he was done as a forward. He still skates out on D occasionally but he's a full-time goalie this year. Hello! :flirt:  Thanks n! Thanks cd! Thanks, 11. I hope to be around more. Between the kid's hockey schedule and my work schedule (thanks to getting laid off in January and having to take a new position, I am now the not-so-proud owner of a 45-minute+ commute in each direction, so my work days are longer and more draining. He also plays travel baseball so that ties us up quite a bit too.
  17. I think it could be a lower pick. I think the Skins want to wash their hands of him. I don't know. I am quite intrigued by Taylor after last night.
  18. The breakdown of the deal shows that it isn't that bad: http://blogs.buffalo...roken-down.html
  19. I was glad to see him give it one last go, but when he realized it wasn't going to work he was able to walk away.
