PASabreFan Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago (edited) It seems like I've asked this in recent years. When is the absolute nadir of interest in hockey? When is the news the driest and dustiest? We might be past them. August is into double digits, and team previews/outlooks are popping up. Edited 22 hours ago by PASabreFan 1 1 Quote
Weave Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago I’d say about 13 yrs into a playoff drought. Does that mean we’re out of the worst of it? Ask me again in late November. Quote

The amount of coverage of training camp and preseason games shows just how dead this part of the season is in sports. No news coming from anywhere about really anything to me would say that yes - this is probably the part of the year when little to nothing happens. Quote
mjd1001 Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago Is there a way to search this forum and gather analytics... Which month... Or better yet, week of the year, over the past 20 years, has the most and least posts and replies? Quote

thewookie1 Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago Between July 15th and September 5th tend to be the dry times. Aside from a rare trade and arbitration cases; there isn’t much going on in hockey then. 1 Quote
Big Guava Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago (edited) The worst is before NFL training camp...after that I don't care as much because at least I have the Bills season to look forward to coming up a whole month before the start of the NHL season. Edited 19 hours ago by Big Guava Quote
PerreaultForever Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago It's the time of year when I definitely start to miss it. Had enough of a head cleaning break and ready for new hockey. I don't like football enough any more for that to carry me into the fall. Quote
French Collection Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago All NHL front offices are taking a break. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few interns were going over some of the video, stats, analytics for the coming season. The media outlets follow suit. There is actually some hockey on today and the next week or so. The Gretzky-Hlinka U18 tournament is starting. I believe TSN is televising some of the games in Canada. 2026-27 draft eligible kids will be trying to win a championship, impress scouts and world junior executives. I used to have OHL season’s tickets and was way more in tune with this level of the game but not so much. I may tune in for some action. Quote
shrader Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago It’s definitely that time, which coincides with reaching the peak of over-emotional slap fights around here. Quote

DarthEbriate Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Dog days are over now. I’ve decided to reinstate the annual pilgrimage (this year) to Vancouver to see the Sabres. My wife and I will make a 4-day weekend of it. Should be fun. And if the border crossing is smooth … they play in Seattle at 5 pm on that Sunday. The elusive double dip is possible. 1 1 Quote
SABRES 0311 Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Yeah this is probably the most boring time. Baseball is cool but no MLB Buffalo team to root for. Not much Sabres news. Preseason football is ok. Quote

The big off season moves are over and most fans are skeptical on Adams and Ruff The Bills have all the buzz in town, as usual. New season, Josh Allen, Hard Knocks, etc. Tre White is back but the goalie camp remains closed. The Sabres season tickets are down to 9,000 and Canadians are not coming over nearly as much. Terry Pegula is basking in Bills fever and he made a somewhat telling comment last week.. His comment on the Bills was “ you don’t have to micro-manage when you have competent people running things”.
