It's somewhat amazing he became a billionaire. Those types are typically ruthless, calculating and very smart (at least in a business sense) Pegula is the exact opposite, he got lucky, got rich and is a timid (but still arrogant) passive dweeb.

I suppose when you're worth billions, you can do and say what you want, but his whole schitck has run dry. Get up in front of the microphone and just own it man, you're still a billionaire irregardless. At least Golisano owned it, I don't have any respect for sir Terrance.

The sabres broadcast does still seem like it's on old school Adelphia, not sure how to make it better... Maybe subliminal messages of "we want fans that want to be here" maybe that'll work.

Yeah.  This is embarrassing and shines a light on what Terry is really concerned about. Perception.  Not reality.

It is almost as if they sit in a meeting trying to figure out what embarrassing thing they can do today.

One note: Living out of market and being able to watch the opposition broadcasts on ESPN+ is very helpful. But, you know, those broadcasts are critical of the Sabres, too.

(also, you could do this within market with VPNs, etc.)

Right. Being out of market, I never watch the Sabres feed. It already felt like state media and it looks very cheap.

I think they mean the broadcasts have been too truthful.

They haven't been truthful enough

That's the way I feel about One Bills Live. I'm a STH, it isnt like I'm a casual fan. I take in A LOT of NFL media and OBL is soooo terrible. I almost* never listen.

*I will listen if Cosell is on

They could start by having better intro music and more interesting color combinations/layout on the broadcast

its almost as boring as the product on the ice

They do that for the same reason that they get rid of an almost 40 year employee... to cut costs.  That's business and it's nothing new.  Just look at Dundon casting off two broadcasters that dated back to the Whaler days shortly after buying the Hurricanes.  $$$$$$$$$$

Was hoping we’d get the shots on goal stat next to the score.

Can't have that.  Pointing out they're getting outshot is too critical.

Wonder if they'll still be willing to put the score up on the screen.  Can't be too negative, ya know.

While it's true that Rayzor could upgrade to a shirt with a collar and tie that actually fit around his neck, that could be fixed without firing someone....If the reason is truly that the broadcasts are too critical of the team, that's pathetic.

I try to remind people as often as I can, you don’t need to be smart to become rich. Usually you have to be a ruthless conniving evil SOB, Terry just seemed to be the beneficiary of owning land that had natural resources and leveraged that into $$$.  Not because he was shrewd but because the industry was just handing out millions to people.

Per Alan Pergament at The Buffalo News.

"The Buffalo Sabres are making a key television lineup change next season.

Joe Pinter, who has been producing Sabres’ games since 2002 and has been working for the team for 37 years through when games were carried on WUTV (Channel 29) and WNYO-TV (Channel 49), was told recently that his services are no longer needed.

Pinter declined comment.

His replacement hasn't been named but the job has been posted.

According to sources, some members of Sabres management believe the television coverage has been too critical.

It is a laughable claim since the team has been on a 14-year Stanley Cup playoff drought  ... ."

If this is the kind of business stuff that Pete G. signs off on, he can go get wrecked as well.

Well I guess we will see more features on the Sabres service dog in 2025-2026

God forbid we fire the guy responsible for nearly half the Sabres draught.

I wish reporters would ask Adams if he feels any sense of responsibility around the draught. The more Pegula engages Adams at a high level in the org the worst the org has gotten.

It's a reasonable question/statement to make publicly at Kevy.

I think I posted it here in the past: I went to that long-ass mainstream artsy film "Killers of the Flower Moon" (or some such title). DiCaprio is in it. DeNiro too. Famous director - Coppola? Scorcese? I forget which one.

Anyhow. Then I read the book. Which is also excellent.

The way in which the author of the book describes the oil speculators who were milling around the part of Oklahoma, etc. gave me so much insight into Pegula and his ilk. The vast majority of those people went completely broke. A select few became fabulously wealthy. The difference between those who failed and those who succeeded was mostly a function of luck. And none of them were brilliant business people, per se (although maybe some were - who knows). They were just greedy SOBs with a huge tolerance for risk.

Carrying that water

Great thing about that tweet is it could be read either way - that they do care about the broadcast being too critical or they don't really care about it at all.

Good eye.

But now I've re-read it a couple times. How do you see it both ways?

I see it as a pile of mush. But I can't make it mean anything clear.

Too critical?   So fire the long tenured producer who does not even go on TV and say anything?

The job is being posted for a kid recently out of college who will make less than half the money of Joe Pinter.    Maybe the new person will make it better but this is EEE at every turn.
