If you could get him at 7 x 7 I’d be ecstatic, but truthfully I don’t think it’s too bad, it’s high.

And it may sting you in the last few years, but it’s time we have some of those contracts

you need him, and not only that the team and the nhl needs to see he wants to be here

I think people need to realize how ordinary a $7M NHL salary will be 3 years after the death of the flat cap world. There's a rude awakening coming.

I think a better question is do you want to keep Tuch for $50-$60M or trade him for a lesser player and a couple picks/prospects?

That's reality.

Yes. He isn’t 100% dependent on speed and his primary RW competition  is TNT on an excellent contract. If he gets to UFA, he’ll be in the 8.5 ballpark. If he has another season like the one he just did, and is the #2-3 UFA on the market next summer (excluding McDavid) he could be looking at 10+ with the cap as high as it will be.

I'd do 5 years @ $7 per season, but 7 years on a 29 year old player is excessive.

Thoughts?

If it takes you a 7-8 year deal to get him for an 7-8 M per deal, you do it. The pay system is the pay system. If you don’t want to work within the framework that everyone else is working under, then get out of the business. The lesson to be learned is that third rate behavior leads to bush league results.

Yep, pay the man and move on, he is key for this team

I want this team to win when Alex Tuch is on it

As the roster sits today I don't move Tuch, now if we happen to add two top 6 forwards as rumored than maybe but even then I think can get more for him at trade deadline than now assuming we're not contending for a playoff spot.

The hope is that by the trade deadline this team will be in the playoff mix. And with him on the roster the odds go up.

In general, will the Sabre franchise have to pay salary premiums to entice and keep players. Yes. That shouldn’t be a surprise for a franchise with a reputation for its cartoonish operation.

Based on the market across the league, Tuch today, at his age, is a $7M-$9M player.  If he was 36 today, he wouldn't be worth that, but with inflation, the cap going up, etc., by the time he's 36, if he's making $7M-$9M then, it will be market for a player his age.  29 year-olds of his caliber will be making much more than that in 6-7 years.  So get him signed today.  He's a key player on the roster.  He has size, speed, scoring touch, and is a great penalty killer.  He's also a leader and a great locker room guy.  He's not a fighter, but he'll drop the gloves on occasion to defend himself or a teammate.  He even has playoff experience.  He definitely was a guy who "wants to be in Buffalo," so let's hope that last season's failures didn't change that.

I don't like those numbers and I think at the end of the deal the contract will look bad but I probably would still do it.

He certainly is not a bad player and he's more complete than Skinner, you just have to look at the possibility of buying the deal out in the last 2 years or so.

If that's what it takes to keep him here, it's probably a yes for me.

i asked the gif generator for a Sabres celebration.

that was the best option i saw (other than the one of benson banging the door by the bench (and i'd already used that one in recent memory)).

... i was celebrating what, to me, was your return to the board.

This is Matt Moulson with a little more talent.

The Sabres should be trying to extend him, but if they don't take a big jump this coming season, they should be looking to trade him sooner rather than later. Hopefully he can stay healthy and keep producing even if the team is bad.

Oh, that's kind.  But I've been back since winter, which ended in late May this year.

Not sure either but I’ll go to my grave with dabbing is not dancing. It’s simulating weed or cannabis oil/resin ingestion and the abhorrent coughing that takes place from ingesting such a substance.  I mean you are putting your face into the crook of your elbow, just like everyone does…wait for it…when they cough.

Reminds me of when Dave Chapelle informed all white people what skeet was as everyone was singing the lyrics to “Low”.
