Rasmus_ Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago Personally, I want someone like Greig back in a Peterka trade. Someone young enough to fit the group but with snarl and edge to his game. We need our own Marchand. Another rat type player I'm a fan of is L'Heureux. Not as a complete one-for-one acquisition but players with bite and edge. 1 1 Quote

Ya Nashville has said they are okay being bad and taking a step back to get better in the long run unfortunatley there roster just isn’t good and most of the big name guys have no move clauses L’Heureux would be an amazing pick up! I’d probably want at least Lauzon as well for the back end, he led the nhl in hits multiple years, and then what about ROR he is the only vet that doesn’t have a no move and would balance cap slightly I would personally be totally fine with him coming back for that hybrid 2/3 center between him and Mcloed we still would have a gaping hole on the defense beside Power, because even if we did get Lauzon he is best as a 5/6 Quote

They are offensively similar and I think Kyrou’s defensive game has improved. Kyrou is 4 years older than Peterka. Like Peterka he was a 2nd round pick. He was drafted out of major junior by a St Louis team full of vets, so there was no quick path to the NHL like Peterka had. In his D5 year, which Peterka just completed, Kyrou had 35 points in 55 games (Covid year). Since then he has put up offensive numbers equal to what Peterka did this year (73 pts per 82 games). Kyrou signed his current 8 year 8.13 million per year deal, after his D7 year. One way to look at is that Kyrou has proven he is a 70-75 point winger, and JJP hasn’t quite yet. Another way to look at it is we are giving up 4 prime years in a similar player’s career. And then there is the possibility Peterka is only scratching the surface of his offensive output If there is a team out there that really likes Peterka, I could see him getting an offer sheet in the $9 million range, where the Sabres would not match; the cost would be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. If Peterka’s offensive ceiling is just a bit higher than what he has shown, then he is likely going to be worth $9 million per year in the not distant future. Seems crazy, but… I like Kyrou and straight up would be a good trade but it would cause some logistic issues or maybe solve a problem. Kyrou is a right shot right wing player. Although Peterka is listed at a right winger he most often plays left and has a left handed shot. If you get Kyrou he is probably taking over for Quinn which I am all for but the loss of Peterka now leaves a hole at left wing. You are left with Zucker, Benson and Greenway. Norris or Kulich could go to the left wing and maybe that is the answer. Thompson centering Kyrou would be a formidable combination. 1 Quote

Most people don’t know the origin; that the team was originally going to be the Dayton Aeros as tribute to Ohio’s aviation history. They will pick a name relevant to Houston and Texas. Quote

All of the Sabres good players are going to leave. It’s not a matter of “if” it’s just matter of “when”. Frankly, I’m ready for this franchise to fold or leave. We hate them. They act like they hate us. Just be done with it already. 1 Quote

Rosen is looking like maybe someday a 3rd line player. I do not see anything in Rosen that indicate 30 goals and 70+ points. I would think the Blues would ask for something more with JJP for Kyrou. Whoops, I didn't expand on that enough. My bad. By full potential I meant -- when they drafted him if he had achieved his maximum homerun swing potential, maybe even grew another inch or two, and basically was a diamond in the rough. I agree: now his ceiling is a responsible 3W with an above-average shot, which can be a good player -- like an Evan Rodrigues (who floats up the lineup without any problems) and should never cost you that much in salary unless you sign him UFA the season after he wins a Cup and has several clutch moments and your team needs "winners" and "leadership".
