Rumor: Rob Ray Retiring?

I was listening to Dropping the Gloves today & John Scott said that Rob told him this was his last season. They spoke during the Catwalk For Charity event in April.  

Ray has grown on me during the television broadcasts. If this is true, I will miss him.  
 

If Rayzor is done, which ex-Sabre do we want in the booth?

Literally he is the only thing about this team that I enjoy.

If this is true and Rayzor confided in John Scott, who then decided to leak the information, I will be surprised.  

I like Rayzor for the humor and the on ice stuff, Marty is a far better analyst.  

 

Hard to say who I would hire without hearing them on the air and understanding their approach to the job.

Whoever the new guy is,  someone needs to tell him not to talk during game action, or if they do,  have something intelligent to say. 

That would be a refreshing change.

100% this.  Marty could transition from intermission to color so easily.   His command of the game far surpasses Ray.  And he lives there.

I was thinking that too. But he already has a sweet studio gig. Marty also made 4X the money that Rayzor made during their playing days and may not want the hassle of being away from home.

I don't mind Rob Ray all that much, but if he is retiring, I'd look forward to someone new.  Just something new, ANYTHING new to keep my interest for a few games.

I really like Marty but there's a such thing as too much Marty, and colour commentating would be well over that line.
