The 4-5-0 Sabres head into Philly tonight for the first game of a home and home with the 4-4-1 Flyers. The Flyers will head to Buffalo to face the dreaded Goat head on Friday night for game 2.

If the Sabres win tonight they'll move to .500 on the season. The expectation is that UPL will get the start, and Levi may return to the line-up as the backup. I haven't seen word on that yet however.

Yesterday's practice lines:

We'll see during morning skate if he keeps Biro with Thompson or decided to shuffle the lines a bit

  • SabresBaltimore changed the title to GDT: Sabres @ Flyers - November 1, 2023 - 7:00PM, TNT/MAX/MSG-B📺WGR📻

Philly is an annoying team.  They can play the slow down game.   Recall last year they beat us early in the season, we could have used the points.

Tonight we go after them.   UPL playing so we score 6.

Sabres 6

Filthy 3

They must be motivated to win this game, .500 with a win. They can get on a roll and assert themselves as an eastern conference contender with a good November.

Dahlin will continue his points streak, getting 2.

I am curious to see if their better defensive approach continues, giving UPL more support, Levi should be ready to back up.

Cozens and Tuch may be held back a bit by VO but I think that line is a factor tonight.

Let’s go Buffalo!

They sent Cooley back I believe, so that leaves us Levi and UPL. Clearly, UPL has to start. I think this is a real, early-season test for the boys. This game means something: .500 after 10, which would be an acceptable place to be. Equally important is that if they can take the last game and apply their play in it to this game. If so, their trajectory will be acceptable, too.

Unless Jost goes instead of VO

Two of our best, toughest, grittiest forwards are Cozens and Tuch.  They better be a factor.

Interesting, going with Olofsson over Jost.

Presumably UPL gets the start tonight, Levi the start on Friday, and then most likely UPL the start in TO.  (Hoping if that's the case, UPL is WAY more dialed in than his last start against TO.  That one was a disaster of epic proportions.)
